The Beacon Butcher Bar is a labor of love from Tina Houston, owner of Reid’s Café & Catering Co., established here in the High Country since 1999. The Beacon is located in the heart of Boone, NC adjacent to the iconic Water Wheel. Just as we value beautiful ingredients in our catering, The Beacon adheres to a similar message.
In the kitchen, we value the fashion from scratch details as small as the aiolis and dressings we use, to the housemade desserts and pastries, cured and smoked meats, and naturally fermented pickles. Across from Appalachian State University on Highway 321 near downtown Boone, the restaurant offers convenient dining for Appalachian football and basketball games and other campus events. We had a great experience tonight. The food was so good - we all were so pleased with choices we ordered. Everyone was very satisfied. Our server Maddie had a great personality. and did an excellent job. Our overall experience was a ten.

This was our first visit to The Gamekeeper. It did not disappoint. We loved everything about it. The setting of the restaurant is so beautiful in the mountains. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The food was excellent and so was the service. The staff was so friendly. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.

We had a very pleasant evening at the Embers restaurant. Really enjoyed the food and it wasn't too busy. Service was good and it was generally not noisy. The restaurant had a very impressive Christmas tree in the corner and a real log fire! Breakfast was good also.
