We were there for their valentines special weekend fixed menu. The lobster tamale and squash bisque was our starters. Lobster tamale was interesting, good, texture might be interesting for some people as there is some custard type thing that comes with it. Again, really good. Also it's served in an interesting way which should require explanation when it gets to the table. Didn't get that, and that is something that I think will come with time since it's a new restaurant. Bisque was out of this world. Shortrib entree was fantastic, highly recommend, just make sure it's hot or at least very warm when it comes out, if it's not they will make sure it's good temp. The brussels with this were phenomenal. They were out of halibut but did the fish entree with salmon on top of a crab elote which was definitely unique with the zing of the grapefruit. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Deserts were both fantastic, the panacotta (very tangy orange top layer, creamy bottom.) The apple bread thing was incredibly and the vanilla bean ice cream it was served with was fantastic. Huge bonus on the night was that Stephan Pyles was actually there and got to speak to him briefly. Not too often you get to meet one of the best chefs in the country in Stephenville, TX. I do think they have some small things they have to fix and iron out but overall great spot, great ambiance and I look forward to trying more of the menu.

The experience was truly commendable. Chef Newton and his wife demonstrated remarkable hospitality. Mrs. Newton served as our waitress during our visit and was exceptionally gracious, making it a privilege to have her as our personal server on our inaugural visit. Every dish was delightful; however, I found the carrot to be particularly exquisite, while my husband thoroughly enjoyed the bread pudding. We are eagerly anticipating our return in the near future.

The Hostess couldn't find my reservation at first and we were all panicking but she did and everything was worthwhile. While, in my opinion, it was on the expensive side. We will reserve this dining experience for special occasions.

Everything was great! I like the simplicity of the menu but still a broad selection. Price was fair $128 for two steaks with add ons, two sides and a tea and an alcohol drink plus tip. Service was great, I loved the whole experience.

This was the first time that we visited Rio Brazos and we will definitely be going back. The food was not only great but exceptional! I commented to our server that this one of the best meals that we have had in a long, long time. For this visit my wife ordered the 6 oz tenderloin and I ordered the Lobster/Shrimp Diablo - both were excellent. We also ordered the chicken sausage appetizer - it was a 'special' for the evening and not on the menu. Whoa!!!! If you dine at Rio Brazos and the chicken sausage appetizer is available just order it - you will not be disappointed.
