- VVancePhiladelphia County •1 review5.0Dined on 16 Nov 2024First off I have only been one time, but I live out of state so I'm not likely to be able to go three times in a six month period to be super fair with this review. That said it was fantastic, fabulous and fierce! The service is incredible, the bartender is top notch & has a wonderful singing voice, even our table support staff got caught humming or singing as they worked, then our servers each belted out amazing ballads. While I didn't have the opportunity to peek into the basement kitchen, I can only surmise they are happily listening to heavy metal and have voracious appetites for culinary knowledge. The overall experience was delicious and delightful. We hope our next visit will be extremely similar and sooner than later.More infoThe Victor Cafe - PhiladelphiaPrice: Moderate• Italian• South Philly•4.9
- JJeffPhiladelphia County •1 review5.0Dined on 12 Nov 2024River Twice can be summed up by one word…Exceptional. From exceptional ambiance and atmosphere, to exceptional food and exceptional service. They go beyond attention to detail, they pay attention to EVERY detail, to ensure that you and your dining party have the most seamless and memorable dinner of your life. The food was exquisite, dare I say edible works of art filled with vibrant flavours and thoughtful components. I was left astonished as bite after bite culinary magic danced across my tongue engaging my pallet and my soul. Chef Randy has really created something magical, a culinary oasis on an otherwise humble street corner. Do your self a favour and come experience the gastronomic wanderlust that is River Twice.More infoRiver TwicePrice: Very Expensive• American• South Philly•4.7
- RRichardPhiladelphia County •6 reviews5.0Dined on 11 Nov 2024Can't remember a better experience, the five stars we gave across the board here are no joke. My date (first date for us) sat for as long as we wanted. Each staff person was very nice. Our waitress, first initial J, took care of us like my beautiful Italian mom would have. Apps, entrees and dessert were in the top 5% ever, and not overpriced.More infoNoirPrice: Moderate• Italian• East Passyunk Avenue•4.6

12 of Philadelphia’s outstanding spots for celebrating special occasions
Maybe you got engaged on the steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art or just picked up the keys to your first rowhouse. It could be that your kid is (finally) toilet trained, or that your noisy neighbor moved away. Sometimes, simply surviving another Tuesday can be an occasion to celebrate over a restaurant meal. It doesn’t have to be fancy. What makes an occasion special isn’t an arbitrary date on the calendar—it’s the decision to celebrate. Luckily, Philadelphia bursts with places where the food and atmosphere lend themselves to living it up. Grab dinner and a jazz show at a swinging North Broad Street faithful. Opt for a quieter night at a critically acclaimed, plant-based gem in Midtown Village. Or splurge on a swanky steakhouse that presides over a corner of Rittenhouse Park. Whether you’re after an intimate spot for an anniversary date or a convivial atmosphere for a boisterous reunion, Philadelphia has you covered with these 12 celebration-worthy restaurants.

Discover South Philly
South Philadelphia is a bustling, diverse neighborhood that reflects the best of what the city has to offer, and its food is no exception. Many of the city’s most iconic foods can trace their roots here. Of course, no visit to Philly is complete without a classic cheesesteak, invented in this part of town by Pat Olivieri in 1930. In fact, Italian-Americans living in South Philadelphia have been a driving force behind the city’s food culture, popularizing favorites like pizza and water ice. You can visit the Italian Market area for a sampling of some of the city’s specialty foods from quality meats and produce to baked goods and gelato. If Vietnamese food is what you’re after, this neighborhood is also home to plenty of authentic dishes like pho and banh mi.
