The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.

The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. A treat for new and seasoned guests alike are the signature dishes that are prepared and flambeed tableside.

The restaurant has been family-owned and operated since 1974 and in 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. The Old Surrey is well known for its free-range lamb and veal allowing customers to enjoy fresh organic ingredients.

Spent 3 hours dining at this lovely, quiet, warm and inviting restaurant. Food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Somewhat pricey for the portions provided Despite, the higher cost we experience here, I would return for a special occasion.

The food is exceptional and the service is amazingly. The servers were very attentive. Order the Winter dinner package. The steak and lam chops were divine. Still dreaming about the crème brûlée and gingerbread cheesecake. Also the table side Caesar salad is a must. It’s entertaining and you will learn some tricks. Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s gem.

We had the best dining experience for my mother’s 90th birthday. Our waiter was excellent both knowledgeable and entertaining. We have been going for the last 15 years every Dec 16th (or the closest open date). Last year my mother was not that impressed and was a toss up if we were going back. We made the decision to return and it was the best decision. We had a small room with one other occupied table. Our waiter was wonderful and made the experience for my 90 year old mother one to remember. She is talking g about going back next year. We love the Caesar Salad prepared table side. The tenderloin was exceptional. The rack of lamb was done to perfection my only negative is the vegetables. All 4 of us left the Brussel sprouts. We have a not nice name for them. This is the first restaurant that I have been served them. That was the only negative if you can call it that of our whole evening. We did make some jokes with the server about them. I would recommend The Old Surrey Inn for a great dining experience with a touch a French fine dining.

We were very disappointed over all in the experience at old Surrey restaurant. We had high hopes after hearing about the experience from friends. We were sat for a 5:30 reservation for 6 people on time, and the restaurant accommodated us at a nice table by the window. The server came over to greet us after roughly 5-10 minutes of having been sat down, but we had no menus. He said the menus were at other tables but he brought us 2 drink menus to start. After about 25-30 minutes we were presented with 2 dinner menus. After another 15 minutes, we were presented with 3 more menus, however we had already shared the 2 menus between us. We ordered several drinks and mains as well as the Caesar salad. The Caesar salad, while expensive, was definitely the highlight of the night. Made table side, it was very fresh and delicious. The server who made the Caesar was also very funny and had a good attitude. We waited around a grand total of 1.5 hours before our mains arrived. The burger was very good and cooked well. The winter four course special was also good. The sirloin was ordered and was well cooked. Unfortunately out of the 6 mains ordered these were the only two that received praise. 2 people had the halibut, but one was extremely undercooked (referred to by the chef as ‘sushi’) and both pieces of fish were definitely NOT halibut. After informing the server, I was told that they would be switching over to sablefish when they ran out of halibut. The server went to chat with the chef and came back to tell me it was halibut, but I know it was 100% not. He did remove one order from the bill for us. The duck was mediocre. It felt overcooked and dry. The skin of the duck was done well however. The potatoes and veggies were very good with all the mains. We had a cake for celebrating a bday and they did accommodate that for us. Lastly, the timing it took to complete these experience was 3 almost 3.5 hours. We did not leave the restaurant until nearly 9 pm.

Great food, good portions in a quaint, romantic, slightly old school, classy setting. A nice splurge meal. Will be back!

I realize it’s Christmas and the restaurant was busy, but the service was slow, we received an amusebuche at the same time as our appetizers and that was before we got our drinks. Once we were finished our appetizers it took a half an hour to 45 minutes before dinner arrived. The food was very good but, We felt like we were the forgotten table. I have had much better service from this restaurant in the past and hope this was a one off.
