Chez Catherine is consistently rated one of the Best French Restaurants in New Jersey. It provides a wonderful dining experience from the warm greeting when you enter to the last sip of wine. This mainstay of Westfield, NJ for the last 38 years delivers quality cuisine and impeccable service. The owner, Stephane Bocket was born in Dunkerque, France. Stephane was the Maitre d'Hotel for 12 years before purchasing Chez Catherine in 2016. His career spans many years at Alain Ducasse's restaurants in NYC and France and before that in a number of other restaurants throughout France. The Chef de Cuisine is Christine Migton. Christine graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. Her dishes revisit traditional French cuisine but use different flavors and tastes. She works to provide lighter and healthier ingredients wherever possible while maintaining that special French touch.

One of my favorite restaurants in NY. Sunday brunch feels like a big extended family. Great food, multi-generations, cozy and modern with the best energy. Best French Toast. Amazing grilled cheese with tomato sandwich . It’s all good no matter when you go. Classic NY.

We have been dining at Chez Catherine for more than 30 years. We ate there when Catherine was still alive, and were so happy when it re-opened after her death. Stefan and his staff have re-created the fine dining experience that is so hard to find anymore, especially outside New York. We dine at Chez Catherine several times a year for outstanding French food, a great wine list, and wonderful service.

Very good soca with botarga. Excellent Echine de Porc! Will come back just for that dish. Salad was very fresh but the vinaigrette was a bit too vinegar forward. Dessert was a rice pudding with persimmon. Totally bland and not worth eating. Had a lovely glass of Côte de Rhône.

We arrived about 15 minutes prior to the dinner service and were seated right away anyway. The owner was very gracious and recited the appetizer specials and then the entrée specials of the day. Service was so good that we hardly noticed plates/flatware/glasses being exchanged for new ones. The food was awesome and everything you want in French bistro. The atmosphere was very pleasant as more and more diners arrived. We were never rushed. I was dining with an old friend and of course we much to catch up on. I kept a close watch on the amount of empty tables as not to overstay our welcome. When we got our bill, realized it was over 3 hours since we arrived and again, never felt rushed. Because of that we over tipped to thank the fantastic staff and then personally thanked our gracious host (owner). We will return again to explore the menu further. Thank you, thank you thank you.
