Claro is where New York and Oaxaca meet – the result of chef/owner T.J. Steele’s long-time love for Oaxacan food and culture. Over his many years in Oaxaca, TJ cultivated relationships with local craftsmen, artists, mezcaleros, cooks and farmers throughout the region. Claro is dedicated to making everything by hand, including the masa, cheeses, chorizo and moles. TJ sources the corn for Claro's menu from farms that hand-pick non-GMO heirloom (criollo) varieties, all our meat and produce is organic and our menu is entirely gluten-free. “Claro” means “clear” in many different senses, but also “of course” -a phrase that’s used to put a person at ease; a sentiment that permeates the style of dining we hope to share with you. The soul of Claro extends beyond the menu, having called on Oaxacan friends to add their craft and expertise to all areas of the restaurant.

Bar Primi is a corner pasta shop devoted to ‘primi piatti,’ the pasta course. What began as an idea for a small space in New York's East Village has since become an essential in chef and co-owner Andrew Carmellini's range: fresh pasta traditionally prepared and cooked to order. At Bar Primi, the main course is Primi Piatti. We use a variety of non-GMO semolina and specialty ‘00’ flours, organic eggs and handed-down techniques to create our menu of Traditional and Seasonal pasta dishes. We make more than a dozen different shapes and styles daily. This includes lumache and rigatoni from our imported extruder or ravioli and mezzalune cut and filled by hand.     We ordered multiple small plates and enjoyed them all. The chicken liver melts in your mouth like butter and the grape jelly is oddly epic. The tuna tartare was fresh and light. Other dishes we enjoyed included the calamari, Brussels, and crab toast). Service and ambience were excellent as well. Can’t wait to return again soon.

    Nearly perfect pizza! I said outloud, 'I am delighted!' Loved the eggplant Parm to go with the 'za. And eating everything to loud rap felt correct. The staff was great. Good vibes. If I have to complain about something: I just wish they had a regular Caesar on the menu. But I'm not complaining.

    Very fresh, delicious food. Recommend the scallops appetizer, set on a bed of mashed potatoes - melts in your mouth. Meatballs, any appetizer with eggplant. pear, radicchio and walnut salad makes you forget it's winter. The lamb chops are extraordinary and of a quality only a restaurant can get. Black cod Livorno - luscious!! Palma's pastry chef is exceptional - you can taste the actual ingredients without being overwhelmed by the sugar. Attentive, but not intrusive, staff. Charming, romantic setting, with fresh flowers everywhere!!
