The Old Surrey Restaurant is Surrey’s best well- kept secret. Built in 1918, it was the residence of Lou Jack and his household until it was converted into a restaurant in 1974.The interior has a crisp, clean aesthetic that is enhanced by hardwood floors and the enlarged photos of historic Surrey that adorn the walls. There are five distinct dining areas on the top floor (including a cozy library) and a banquet facility downstairs. The cuisine is French with a splash of West Coast flare. The restaurant has been family-owned and operated since 1974 and in 1984 the restaurant has entered into a partnership with the family farm in Ryder Lake overlooking Chilliwack from the nearby mountains. Dan is a great manager. He greeted us at the front for our booking to welcome us back. On a previous visit Dan surprised us with an amazing experience. He knew that my partner was vegan. There was no dessert options for vegans. He surprised us by picking up some vegan ice cream so that she could enjoy a dessert with me. Dan goes above and beyond. He is professional and accommodating. Our server Kelly is also wonderful. We always have a great experience with her. It was a great night with consistently good food and wonderful service. I had the Cajun chicken with potato salad and Caesar salad. My partner had the Santa Fe salad with crispy tofu. My only feedback for change would be for the restaurant to offer a couple of vegan options for desserts. A vegan chocolate mousse would be a cool option. There are a lot of people that are lactose intolerant so it would be only for vegans.

Consistent quality of food at relatively reasonable pricing. The service is always great. The restaurant itself is a bit darker than what I would prefer but definitely not a deal breaker. Highly recommended location.
