From speaking not a word of English, to creating award-winning dining experiences throughout the Carolinas, the duo has married hard work with passion to bring authentic Thai cuisine to their new home.Since opening the first Basil in Charleston to rave reviews, several trendy locations have followed over the last dozen years. You won't find a neighborhood restaurant anywhere close to Greenville doing what chef Shawn Kelly set out to do: provide both neighbors and visitors alike the Upstate's freshest and most plentiful meats, produce, and products, both as a dine-in and carryout option. This concept supports the idea that farmers and chefs can make a living supplying a community with its daily necessities, while also encouraging enjoyment of a simple meal of a sandwich or steak, chop, or bake.Just imagine: Wednesdays become your favorite lunch day of fresh and locally-sourced soups and salads with a friend. Then you get a favorite bottle of wine to bring home, coupled with carefully chosen side dishes and the best burgers and fresh Carolina seafood in Greenville to throw on the grill. Or maybe you even have a long-standing Sunday brunch date!

During a birthday dinner, we requested outdoor seating in the initial reservation. Once we got there we were told that larger parties had come through and had “taken up” all available seating leaving only a 2-top directly in front of the live musician which we were told they typically don’t seat. During dinner, the table was sat. Additionally, the same staff member came to half way through dinner service and took a chair from our table to accommodate a different party, despite the various empty tables that remained through our dinner service. Wasn’t expecting much, but needless to say not the birthday dinner we expected.

This place is gorgeous, easily the most beautiful in Greenville. Unfortunately, the food is just ok. I will give them extra credit for the brussels though. They need to inform their wait staff to stop boasting that their chef is Michelin starred, they could say he worked at Michelin starred restaurants, but don’t lie and insult our intelligence.
