Beauty & Essex has an innovative design that starts in the restaurant’s entrance, a well-curated modern-day pawn shop replete with a saxophone, boom­box, quirky artifacts, vintage treasures, and an eclectic array of “one-off” pieces of jewelry.     You’ll need to keep in mind that the place isn’t a top pick for dining. The bar bites are decent, but it is more of a choice for cocktails. The cocktails were outstanding! The seating isn’t ideal with bench seats and coffee tables. I was a bit disappointed with the terrace. People leave their trash behind and the pink statues are not in great shape. The tail of one of the statues has been broken and some of the others have places worn through the paint where people touch them. The shrubs are hilarious and the view from the terrace of the Empire State Building is gorgeous!

    It's great to enjoy delicious Japanese food at a reasonable price in the heart of Manhattan. The oysters were fresh, and the sauce had a delightful Japanese flavor. The sushi offered a nice variety of choices and was equally enjoyable. I’d love to go back again.
