Best Japanese Restaurants in Kailua

A creative mix of traditional and local ingredients creating a great combination of flavors. Very attentive and pleasant staff made this an enjoyable experience.

Wasabi Bistro is discreetly tucked away inside The Breakers hotel. Was greeted by one of the staff at the entrance of the hotel. All of the staff was outstanding during our dining. Ordered two of their signature dishes: the Baked Scallop Special and the Papaya Seafood Motoyaki, which were both excellent! Looking forward to my next trip to Waikiki so I can make a return visit to Wasabi Bistro.

Every coarse was filled with flavor and was prepared with skill and excellence. The whole crispy fish was a main coarse second to none! No place in Waikiki can present an experience as perfect as the staff provided.

Original Roy’s at Hawaii Kai delivers an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly blends culinary excellence with a great sunset view. The food is nothing short of outstanding, showcasing bold flavors and impeccable presentation that highlight the restaurant’s Hawaiian fusion roots. The service was superb—attentive, friendly, and seamless from start to finish, making us feel truly valued. To top it all off, we were treated to a stunning sunset view from the second-floor dining room, which added an extra layer of magic to our evening. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a perfect meal in a beautiful setting. Oh, and by the way, don’t forget to save room for one of the soufflés. We had both the chocolate and the seasonal pumpkin. Both were delicious!

Service was excellent and manager come over to ask if everything is fine. We celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary and loved the cheesecake. Great job Roy and Denise in making this our favorite restaurant for ourselves and the many friends and relatives that we invite to have a wonderful dinner at a really nice spot.
