Tierra del Sol is a restaurant that takes its name from the Mixtec song, a melody that has become an Oaxacan hymn.Just like that nostalgic song, this place celebrates in its own way the culture of an exceptional people: the Mixtec or ñuu savi; the first does it with her poetry and the second with her food. Our chef: Olga Cabrera, cook, is the architect of such gastronomic praise, and she achieves it from the knowledge and respect for an ancient cuisine that she inherited from the women of her family and her community, Huajuapan – in the heart of the Mixteca region of Oaxaca -, a knowledge that seasons with his special passion for traditional dishes.

Great Chef’s degustation and pairing, the service was just amazing and the food experience was great with the Aguachile de tasajo Delicious, the Agua de Piedra soup amazing the whole cook at your table, and the rest if the degustation was well match. We’re highly recommending this restaurant !

I don’t understand why this restaurant wasn’t packed. The food and price point are excellent. We met the owner and his wife, the chef. They are charming and excellent guides to the cuisine. We found the indoor seating to be airy, yet warm and quiet, which we preferred to being upstairs on an open balcony in February. Their speciality is the moles, all seven of which are offered, and we finished every bit of the two that we were given with our dishes. The watercress salad had the most awesome local tomatoes (in February, no less). Dessert for us was an amazing chocolate layer cake with buttercream and chocolate mousse in each layer, studded with truffles. With a tad of syrup the cake would have been perfect. It was a touch dry. My only comment was that we arrived early in the evening and communication with staff was hard, because we didn’t speak spanish well. In about 15 minutes a native english speaking server was on the scene, who would have solved our issue. Highly recommended

The food was outstanding! Delicious, fresh ingredients with creative takes on classic dishes. The service was at times very attentive and thoughtful, then we’d lose them for awhile. In fairness, they had a large party to serve, arriving just after we did. That said, the amazing food would have us going back and recommending Origen to our friends.
