Nisei presents a contemporary approach to Japanese American cuisine by combining deep Japanese flavors, refined cooking technique, and Northern California's finest ingredients. The restaurant is a personal reflection of Chef David Yoshimura's unique experience as a Michelin starred chef and second generation Japanese American, or Nisei.     I treated my husband here for his birthday. We were very impressed and happy with the restaurant. The chef even came up to our table and interacted with us! We enjoyed every morsel, and agreed that it is one of our favorite steakhouses! The restaurant is beautiful and the service was spectacular. The staff anticipated your move at times; it was impressive. Overall, amazing experience!

    We love this reliably delicious restaurant. I just wish that this and other restaurants in the area were open later. We were able to go after the symphony this evening only because it was a short concert, but usually the opera and symphony conclude too late for us to have dinner here. I realize restaurants are reluctant to commit to later hours given concerns over demand, but I think the ones in this neighborhood would do better business if they did so. We love to eat in this area after a performance, and this is one of the better options. The food is decadently delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and elegant, and the service has never disappointed. They know what they're doing.

    Our experience at Nisei was phenomenal. It was our last night of our honeymoon, and the team and Chef David ensured that everything was an incredible experience from the moment we walked in. The food was so delicious, beautifully plated, and many times very surprising. The team recommended a sake for us to try to ensure it met our taste expectations before purchasing it. The entire experience lasted about 3 hours, and we left there ready to plan our anniversary trip back to San Francisco just to enjoy Nisei again. We wholeheartedly recommend Nisei to anyone looking for an amazing culinary adventure.

    This is what an excellent dining experience is about. From the greeter at the front, full of warm welcomes on a rainy evening to the general manager re-seating us due to a wobbly table we had the most amazing evening. Service is excellent, Christian and the house managers were attentive polite and professional. The sommelier as well chose our white and red wines and nailed it! The food goes without saying, we had pear salad, crudeo and pasta. The special white truffle pasta as a share was amazing. Duck, scallops, lobster pasta as mains. Benigets for dessert with a vanilla and dark chocolate sauce. Cocktails also supreme, old fashioned, martini's and a Paper Plate! We really had such a wonderful time and it reminded me of the wonder of our city and the talented restaurant chefs, and servers in the Presidio.
