Best Fine Dining Restaurants in South Mountain

As a frequent diner at Tarbell's, I can say that it is consistently outstanding. Unlike other top restaurants in Phoenix, Tarbell's menu changes frequently, and the new additions are always amazing. Last night, I had a lobster salad that I had not seen on the menu before, and it was superb. They keep some standard items around all the time -- amazing steaks (try the peppered NY Strip), but if you blink, you may miss the soft shell crabs or oysters that are only served when they can be their best. We come in often and are always pleasantly surprised. Amazing wine list as well. Barrell-aged cocktails are fabulous. Mikey, the mixologist, crafts the best cocktails. Don't forget about the brick oven pizza and Mark's meatballs, which are amazing. Service is always attentive, professional, and friendly. Basically, I consider Tarbell's to be the best restaurant in Phoenix/Scottsdale. I have been to every "five-star" restaurant in town. We have become quite a foodie locale, so that's a big compliment.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here. We’ve been to this location a number of times, and again we’re not disappointed. The ambience and lighting were beautiful. Service was prompt and courteous, along with being personalized. The food , outstanding. We just love it here. Great job!

Since our last visit nearly a year ago, Anhelo has changed from a simple dinner menu to a course-based approach. We quite like this approach but while it gives many choices, it is also a bit limiting for the table because everyone is required to select the same course. Granted, there are numerous choices and add-ins but I'm sure it helps simplify things for the kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience with Anhelo. The petite course is definitely a lot of food when you consider the bread serving and the formage we added to our dining experience. I wouldn't skip the wine pairing either - they have a tremendous cellar and they paired well with each course. The staff is amazingly coordinated and synchronized throughout the night. Can't say enough about the service and professionalism of everyone. We'll be back!

We sat outside and it was fine with the outdoor heaters. The food was excellent and our waiter was very attentive. We had a great time and the food was cooked properly. We will go back.
