The oldest family run restaurant in London. Spanning 6 decades and three generations, Il Portico Restaurant on Kensington High Street has been cooking regional Italian specialities since it was first opened in the 1960"s by acclaimed chef Pino Chiavarini. Still managed to this day by the same family, siblings James and Francesca draw heavily from their roots, providing simple, authentic Italian food from their home region of Emilia Romagna and beyond.     Francesco took very good care of us. There were eight of us and half were children and were well accommodated with activities and a very good children’s menu. We all ordered steaks and were very pleased with the quality and execution. My only negative were the chips which were a bit cold and dry.

    This was our visit to Il Portico. What a great find! It has everything. A great vibe, very busy on a Saturday night Staff were lovely, from being greeted to explaining the menu. A traditional family restaurant. Most importantly the food is excellent- minestrone, sardines, lamb shank and the special pasta. We would definitely love to come back. We had travelled ( long difficult journey due to weather) from Scotland for the weekend. This was a wee oasis and we really enjoyed it all.

    Four of us had another outstanding meal at Tendido Cero last evening. The food was delicious, beautifully served and the wine excellent. The service was friendly yet professional. A thoroughly enjoyable evening - thank you all!
