- AAlEdinburgh/Midlothian •1 review5.0Dined 2 days agoWe had a fab early evening meal with 2 kids. Kids meals were a great size and delicious, my son had a Pizza Chicken burger and was in heaven! The spicy shrimp were divine and the ribs were delicious. We also had the huge brownie dessert (which we didn’t need) but was so much fun to eat together as a family. For 2 guitars man family members this was the perfect spot. We may even go back. It’s not cheap but it’s excellent value for what you get. Fully bellies and happy family all round. Great friendly staff too, couldn’t do enough for you. XMore infoHard Rock Cafe - EdinburghPrice: Moderate• American• New Town•4.4

The choice of drinks was good and quickly replenished by courteous and attentive staff. To be fair though we were the only ones there. The food was amazing. The hot savoury dishes were unusual but not too weird, feta and red onion quiche (my favourite) and a black haggis & red onion sausage roll. The sandwiches were more traditional but still made really well. There were two plain and two fruit scones which were smaller than you'd usually have but by the time I'd got to my second one this didn't seem like a problem. Finally there was a lovely selection of 'wee cakes', these were taken back to our room to be consumed later as by the time we got to them we were really quite full. They were still lovely hours later. All in all this was a superb afternoon tea. All of the ingredients seemed excellent. All items were carefully placed and thoughtfully displayed. The portions were also really good without looking too gluttonous. My only criticism is the location, the Snug is a lovely wee lounge, isolated from the outside world, but does not have the same feel as a well appointed restaurant or tea-room. In warmer weather though afternoon tea can be taken out in the roof garden (right next to the Snug) and I imagine this would make for a fantastic dining experience. I would highly recommend Afternoon tea at the Glasshouse hotel.More infoThe Glasshouse Hotel, EdinburghPrice: Expensive• Scottish• Edinburgh•3.5
