Tucked away down Dean Street amongst the hustle and the hipsters is the Pierre Victoire, one of Soho’s favourite dining institutions. This little haunt has been serving up rustic French cuisine to loyal regulars for over a decade, and this is still one of London’s favourite places for date nights and cosy pre-theatre meals. Part Provencal, part Art Nouveau, the dining room at Pierre Victoire is decorated with whitewashed walls, chalkboard menus, a vintage piano, eclectic artworks, untreated wooden floorboards and wine bottles stuffed with drippy candles, and the wholesome home-style cuisine and moreish wine is all delightfully affordable. With a steak-centric menu, Pierre Victoire also serves tasty omelettes, creative salads and plenty of seafood.

Everything lovely - good, service, decor - except the high noise levels. Some simple noise dampening fixtures could easily resolve this and would make for a much nicer experience.

My friend and I went for a pre theatre dinner and it was perfect. Close to Oxford Street in the heart of Soho. We were seated down stairs where it was nice and cosy. Our waiter was very efficient in taking our drink and food orders - which is just what you want when you have a theatre show to get to. They have a set menu for lunch and dinner which I thought was great value. A great choice of wines by the glass also.

Cosy restaurant in great location with a reliable selection of classic French dishes. Booking recommended as it’s quite a small dining room. Get there before 6pm to have the set menu option.

This place used to be be good but now it’s pretty awful . I was asked how long I’d be staying as I sat down . After about 30 minutes my table was engrossed by a party of 10 with only 4 seated and they were very loud indeed. This used to be a Soho stalwart now it’s become a tourist trap with prices hiked to the hilt . I brought attention to some of these issues to the Manager but he was really dismissive . After many years of going there I swore never to return and I won’t but you can if you want to be fleeced.

A favourite that we’ve been to many times but slight danger of being victim of its own success. Arrived on time for our booking only to be told we’d have to wait until all our group arrived as it was first come first served. Then waited over 20 mins (they were clear on our grace period of max 15 mins if we were late), which was fine but could have been made to feel less like we were the problem. Once seated, food excellent as always but just a bit too rushed and high turnover. Our fault for booking a prime Friday night slot. Definitely a mid week place for us in the future.

Booked a table for 4 friends and were constantly reminded that we could only be there for 90 minutes which is ridiculous and rude. Table was squashed so my friend got frequently knocked when people passed her to go to the bathroom. Food and wine were nice but transition from starter to main felt rushed. Noise levels challenging even downstairs. We left without having dessert as felt so unwelcome although then had to ask repeatedly for the bill. I would not recommend coming here during busy periods. Came another time with a friend for pre-theatre dinner so the fast turnaround then wasn’t a problem!
