Poggio is a classic Italian trattoria with comfortable neighborhood charm and destination-caliber cuisine. Created by Larry Mindel, who also founded numerous other restaurants in the Bay Area and beyond, Poggio has been ranked among the very best Italian restaurants since it opened. Led by Executive Chef and Partner Ben Balesteri, Poggio’s daily changing menus use the best available local ingredients including dishes inspired by the seasonal bounty of our local farmers, ranchers and fishermen and the traditional methods of Italy, including wood-fired ovens, house made pastas from scratch and a wide variety of dishes serving guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’re honored to have been awarded a Bib Gourmand distinction by the Michelin guide in 2017, 2018, and along with being named Best Italian restaurant in Marin County by Marin Magazine in 2021.

Some dishes were great, some really were not. Our waiter was friendly, but disappeared for most of the night. We had to make plans to order and get our check all at once because it’d been 15-20 minutes (for the 3rd time) since we’d last seen him. Some plates were great, but the most expensive one, the ribeye, was tough and fatty. For $58, I would expect better, and it was difficult to try to interact with the staff in the restaurant at the time. Not a terrible experience, but very hard to justify $200 for two people plus a good tip.

This is a classy, top notch dining experience in Sausalito. Worth the drive, as the food is excellent and the ambiance hard to beat. Old world charm oozes from every wooden sconce lit booth. We shared a meal with very dear foodie friends here and they were duly impressed with everything.

Poggio is our go to spot when we want to enjoy a great meal. We we arrived, they showed us to a table that so close to the second table that was already occupied. A chair was placed next to the table but due to the high traffic area, being so close to the existing diners , we asked for a different table. No worries as we were given a 2 seater with a little more privacy for my date and I. Service was great as normal. Can’t say enough accolades about Poggio !

As always, the food and service here is exquisite. Our server Abraham was so kind and engaging. We all appreciated him and how often he checked in on us. The food was fantastic! We had the sformatino, which is a luscious cauliflower custard, short ribs, tagliatelle and more...all outstanding.

Everyone, there were 4 of us, enjoyed their food choices. Service was efficient and friendly. And patient. We were seated at our table for over 4 hours. At no time we were rushed. While, at the same time, whenever we needed service it was right there for us. This included not only the waiter but the busing folks and the folks who keep your water glasses full.

We had a great post-new year celebration with girlfriends. Our waitress, Samora, was very helpful in pointing out menu items that were excellent. Food was great and of course we ordered Tiarmasu for desert. Poggios is our local go-to restaurant so we will definitely be back! Happy New Year!
