Brian West is one of the best chefs in San Antonio, and the food at Cafe Paladar reflects his interests. It's a pity, though, that this gem is not better known. It's a little out of the way but is well worth searching out. We will go again whatever the next popup incarnation might be.

I like the concept and the space is clean and well used. Our waiter David knew the menu and took good care of us. We started with the pickled mustard greens, served cold. Very good flavor profile, but a tad salty. The tempura vegetables were a hit. The wok seared asian mushrooms were good, but again, too salty. I had the Peking style duck breast served medium rare and it was excellent. My wife had the Bi Bim Bap which had nice flavors but the rice with sauce was way too salty. I would encourage Chef Brian to have his kitchen staff taste what they are preparing to ensure it's not overly salty.

Definitely working towards popping "down", and transitioning out. Strip center non-ambience. Location/Setting = zero on exterior

We've now enjoyed Chef Brian West's "PopUp for a Purpose" 3 times and just wish more people knew about it. Especially since part of the proceeds benefit non-profits. The food was amazing, sort of pan Asian- not really a kids place but if you like excellent food..try it before it's gone!
