   My partner and I made reservations for valentines day at 8pm. Unfortunately there were no parking spots when we arrived which I understand is out of their control but we ended up having to park in muddy grass. We arrived just after 8 and were not seated until 9pm. This was frustrating as we were not able to order any food or snacks at the bar. Once seated, we did not get water or our waiter for another long period of time. There were four courses and the food was overall very good but most times we were left without utensils after the food was brought. Overall, it was not my favorite dining experience especially for a restaurant of this caliber.

   Great venue for a special occasion like Valentines Day. The fixed price five course menu was outstanding, well thought out, ambiance in the library was very cozy. It’s pricey for sure so not something you do often.

   I ate here for the Valentines five course menu and it was phenomenal. The dishes were curated exceptionally well. I did not leave disappointed and was already planning my next visit before I left. The staff are wonderful. We sat at the bar shortly before dining and enjoyed our beverages and time chatting with the bartender. She was the most welcoming and was able to provide drink recommendations which were very fitting.

   Table was not ready when we arrived. We arrived right at 8pm (since the reservation specified a 10-minute grace period). Our table was not ready until 8:19pm. They comped us 2oz of wine each (for our inconvenience). Food was very good. Ambiance was great and noise-level was low. Service was good, but slow. There were long time time gaps between courses. The check arrived quickly after dessert, as it was 10pm by then. Food was fairly priced; drinks (cocktails and wine) were a bit pricy.

   Food was quite good but prices for individual glasses of wine seemed too high. $18-20 per glass seems like too big a mark up especially in charlottesville... service was good and food was quite good

   Absolutely outstanding in every way! Delicious beef ribs, unlike anything I have ever eaten. Friend had the pancetta wrapped tout. . Incredible accoutrements brought out and added to all flavors. Pears, arugula, spiced pecan salad with balsamic drizzle plated in a crescent shape on their signature handmade pottery plate. All phenomenal! Service was unsurpassed. Space uniquely 1789.

   This has been one of our favorites in Charlottesville area for past 15 years. Food is always delicious and service attentive without being intrusive. There are occasional quirks in how dishes are prepared. Nothing problematic just things like one entree served as small portion without any accompaniments while another is elaborately presented with multiple accompaniments. Some lengthy wait between courses. But overall still outstanding.

    We knew being vegetarians would be tough-but did not realize it would deflate the soul to the extent it did. Because we were stuck with the risotto and this one had too much salt to our liking & was utterly uninspiring. Alas, we have to cross this one out too. Kind hearted souls, look elsewhere.
