Across from Millennium park and along Chicago’s Cultural Mile, Acanto Restaurant + Wine Bar is a treasured destination for those who appreciate authentic and approachable Italian food in a conversation-friendly atmosphere. Acanto serves seasonally-driven Italian cuisine from both regions of Italy utilizing artisanal ingredients from Midwest farmers and producers. Acanto boasts one of the most lauded wine programs in the US, including a 3-star rating by World of Fine Wine and a two-glass “Best of Excellence” rating by Wine Spectator. The libations menu is rounded out by Italian classics including spritzes and negronis along with craft cocktails, beer, and spirits.

The word Acanto is the Italian translation of Acanthus, the flowery leaf featured prominently in Roman architecture. Famed architect Louis Sullivan used Acanthus in his distinctive terra cotta ornamentation found on the facade of the historically-landmarked building that houses Acanto.

Acanto on Michigan Ave was the perfect choice for dinner before a concert at the Auditorium Theater. Within walking distance to the venue. Acanto had many gluten free options that were necessary for our visit. Food was fresh and so flavorful. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.

We ate at two highly recommended and rated restaurants during our trip to Chicago. This one was very disappointing. We arrived for an early dinner when there were few other diners. Our waitress was pleasant, took our order and then ignored us for the rest of the evening. The pear salad was good but over dressed. Our entrees arrived lukewarm. No one came by to check on our food. Finally, we mentioned it to staff who happened to pass by our table. The floor manager promptly came by to take our dinners back to the kitchen. The pasta came back redone at the correct temperature but the fish was still barely warm. No one returned to ask about our meal or enjoyment. This is a restaurant that has forgotten that the most important person in a restaurant is the diner!

dinner before a show. Food was excellent service felt a little rushed even though we had plenty of time. Table surface was small and we juggled for space. Overall, excellent choice—-our go to place before events in the area

Acanto has great food, cocktails and wines. The ambience was classy and the noise level was excellent. I recommend them. Also their location just across the street from the “Bean” In Millennium park was very convenient.
