    Paying homage to Oakland history-about 100 years ago there was a lounge and club called the VARSITY LOUNGE located in our same location, who knew! In digging up old Oakland memorabilia, we found an old menu. To our surprise-they were well known for two things the Varsity Martini and Conga Lines!! While we aren’t ready for a conga, we are ready for the Varsity Martini and other drink specials. Come join us every day in our downstairs café, and our upstairs bar Monday through Saturday.

    Beautiful setting, lovely service, a little pricey, but the deal breaker is that the food is rather over seasoned. We shared 5 dishes and every one was conspicuously too salty. Not ok.

    We had great drinks and great food. We loved the Brussels sprouts, the bitter Caesar and the fungi pizza. Their pizza dough is the best., and the rosemary on the fungi pizza enhances the flavors. The restaurant was packed, too, which was great to see!

    Great experience. Service was attentive, food was delicious! Had cocktails with the fries and hummus. 2 pizzas, one oven roasted chicken, pumpkin crème brûlée…and a few cocktails. Just wonderful!

    4 people dining, 3 dinners brought out with no mention of the fourth. 5 minutes later, it came while the others all felt obligated to wait. Can’t stand when restaurants do that.

    I had the Lamb special but it came very dried out and the sauce salty. I think it was under the heat lamp too long. It was very disappointing. Also, our bill was incorrect. We were charged for an item we did not receive. Not sure I will go back. Last time I was there, the food was much better.

    Great food, drinks and dessert. My guests were new to Acre and they loved it. Accessible for one of the guests. She felt getting to the upstairs dining room was easy peasy. I love that it’s good food without being pretentious.
