Alex our server was excellent. Beautiful ambience as always. Beet salad was tough and under seasoned. Carrot cake was not as good. A bit of a miss this time

Recently celebrating an anniversary at Aera, we enjoyed the stunning 38th-floor views and lively open-kitchen atmosphere. The food was decent but typical, with highlights like the delicious East Coast oysters, fluffy whipped potatoes, and rich brown sauce on the striplion. Some dishes, like the scallop sushi, were underwhelming, though the fresh wasabi was a nice touch. Service was decent, but some recommendations weren’t great. However, one issue was that they didn’t inform us 24 hours in advance that assigned seating requires booking through their website, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the payment process was awkward due to a counting error, so it’s best to avoid using cash and pay by card to prevent mistakes. Overall, Aera is worth visiting for the ambiance and views rather than groundbreaking cuisine, making it a nice spot for special occasions—but be sure to check their seating policy in advance.

Wouldn’t recommend for a special occasion. Went with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. We had tickets to the raptors game later on so we made an earlier reservation at 4:30. Seeing on their website this falls in their happy hour, I messaged on OT to confirm we can still order dinner at this time. Never received a response, I messaged their Instagram. They responded letting me know that dinner can’t be ordered until 5 - I replied explaining it’s our anniversary & we were coming for an early dinner hoping we could order once we got there, where they responded we can order off their “bar bites” menu. I work in the industry so I understand there are likely things not ready to be ordered/served at this time, but the lack of hospitality left a sour taste in my mouth. Came in to the hostess eating snacks at the front desk - we were sat at a couch in the lounge we had to bend over to eat at even explaining we intend on ordering dinner/received the dinner menu. It wasn’t mentioned that it was our anniversary at any point during the reservation even after noting it on our reservation. It was clear we were experiencing the shuffle around of people coming in for their evening shifts at that time, which I can understand but was unfortunate we had little to no attention during the entirety of our reservation due to this. While our server was absent in the beginning of our experience, once I slid into conversation it was our anniversary after ordering our mains and asking for a wine menu you could see he began to put more of an effort in. Which was appreciated! He was really nice, ended up enjoying him, our food & the ambience in the end, but with a $450 bill it was a lack lustre experience for what was suppose to be a special night for me and my partner. If this was somewhere like earls or cactus club it would be a higher score, but with menu prices where they are it shouldn’t be a surprise when guests expect more than the bare minimum hospitality for a special occasion.

Was not told the kitchen would be closed until 30 mins prior to arrival. Could only have a cheese board which was good and the drinks were great as well. Will have to try coming back at an earlier time for the food

Beautiful spot, food was great but a tad on the pricey side. With that said, the price does reflect the quality of the food, its presentation, and the careful planning of the space to make it comfortable and fun to sit in and eat.
