This was my 1st visit to Alcove. I wanted a more upscale dinner experience just prior to the Celtics game that evening. Our expectations were more than met. Our 4:45pm reservation perfectly matched the 8:00pm game time. The service was excellent. Assistance with our wine choices was on point. I was worried that our menu choices were a bit slim but we settled on splitting a few appetizers, with knowledgable input from our waitress. All of our selections were tasty and of sufficient quantity. I think the cost of our meal was appropriate. You could easily spend as much inside the TD Bank Garden with far less quality. I would say, Alcove is not the best place to bring young kids. It has total grown folks, upscale, candle lit ambience. But, by the time we left at around 6:30pm, most of the patrons were decked out in Celtics gear. This was just a cool choice for us and it made me think of just coming back to hang out whenever I plan to be in the area.

Main courses were overpriced. Food was bland and everyone’s dish had too many onions. All four of us ate half or less of our meals.

I decided to try Alcove on a Friday afternoon when no Bruins or Celtics games were scheduled. We had a tasty lunch from a limited but excellent menu, attentive service, a little wine and what turned into a 3 1/2 lunch! It’s a great location, nicely designed room (even the music was good). I know this place is popular on game days and nights, but I would highly recommend when TD Garden is not mobbed!

We chose Alcove based on its close proximity to the TD Garden. Although the menu at first appeared limited, there was something for everyone. More important, The food, halibut, steak, half roasted chicken, shrimp cocktail, ALL was delicious! We were thrilled to be able to order $1. Oysters until 6pm. Cocktails were creative and perfect. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The views of Boston’s several landmarks also made for an unexpected pleasure. To get there, walk thru the 100 Lovejoy Wharf archway. It’s on the back to the right. When we go to an event at the Boston (TD) Garden, this is where we’ll dine!

This place is a family favorite, requested by teenage granddaughter and her friend as our place for dinner. The burgers are amazing, as is the mac and cheese. Well mixed drink and friend, attentive service. This place is a neighborhood gem!

Pros: Very convenient location near TD Garden / North Station. A rare non-sports bar in Celtics/Bruins land Cons: loud, mediocre service (brought all our food at once despite specifically being asked to space the plates - felt crowded, rushed, and the fish got cold). Okay food (they were out of flounder and the salmon was slimy), high price tag for above mentioned issues ($175 for one entree, salad, app, and wine). Overall: felt like an airport restaurant- loud, rushed, port service. A fine place for a drink with the view and location, but I won’t be coming back for a meal.
