The entres are terrific. Cocktails- voila! Seafood risotto- fabulous. Service was attentive but not overwhelming. Perfect. The ambiance - really don’t know what the owners want to convey with the extremely bright lights throughout the entire restaurant which is not big btw. The lights were extremely bright when they should have been dimmed for evening. For me, it ruined the vibe I would have enjoyed especially by the bar where it felt like there were Broadway like spotlights. But again, the food was tasty, fresh, and colorful . The menu was NY priced but no NY restaurant would charge the prices with the lighting.

I wanted to avoid leaving a bad review. I reached out to the restaurant a week ago, but have not heard back, so here goes. When we were seated our server came by to take our order and did food and drinks all at once. The cocktails took quite a long time to arrive and when they did they were not very good. So much so that the server remade them (there did not appear to be a bartender, which may have been the problem). The drinks were better the second time around, but unfortunately, our French onion soups arrived in the meantime. We'd like to have enjoyed our cocktails prior to our food arriving. When our mains arrived, the filet mignon, which I ordered medium, was well done. After the cocktails, I was not comfortable also sending back the steak; as well, my wife would have had to wait to eat her meal. For the cost of a meal here, this is really unacceptable. It’s also unfortunate because we’ve had some good meals here in the past, but I don’t think we will be back.

This place used to be good. I guess that changed with the management. Food was meh. Starters are too fried, and the salmon was overly sauced and just okay. The on-menu cocktails were fine. I tried to order something off-menu and it was terrible. Are they using premade drinks back there? Friends of ours who went the same night said they thought the seafood was cooked from frozen.

The staff was very accommodating and kind. I was there with a friend, celebrating her birthday, in a torrential downpour which caused her to be quite late for our reservation due to traffic. They assured us that it was no problem. We enjoyed the Kumamoto oysters, which were very fresh and expertly prepared. We had the zucchini sticks, which were nice and crispy, and came with a bright and delicious dipping sauce. We also ordered the cheesy plate, and were pleasantly surprised by a lovely sweet French toast-like slice of bread along with the lovely selection of cheeses and honeycomb and marmalade. For our mains, we both chose the filet, and we were not disappointed. Very flavorful, and the mushroom risotto they came with was excellent. We will definitely be coming back soon.

I have been to this restaurant multiple times over 3 years. It's always been a "go-to" when I'm in Alameda; however, something has happened in the past 6 months. The innovation in the kitchen is missing. The service is average. The winelist has been downgraded, is pedestrian, and there are fewer "gems." The indoor dining area looks blah, bare, and dated. The food is good, but the diversity and depth of the previous menu are not there.
