Opened in 2017. Michelin-recommended since 2022.

We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car. It’s kind of a bistro, kind of a diner, internationally inspired menu which is also representative of the diverse culture in Toronto.

Brunch at Aloette was something we said we’d never do. But the city kept asking and we’re glad to be a new staple in the Queen West neighbourhood for mimosas, chicken and waffles, and piping hot coffees.

Executive chef: Patrick Kriss

From the OpenTable editors: The casual sibling of acclaimed restaurant Alo, Aloette redefines comfort food with impeccable execution and high-quality ingredients. The restaurant’s rail car-inspired interior feels both plush and nostalgic, while dishes like the iceberg wedge, burger topped with Beaufort and lemon meringue pie have achieved near-legendary status in Toronto since the restaurant opened in 2017.

The food is excellent—no complaints there! Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived it felt like we were being hurried out. We drove a long way for a night in Toronto and chose Aloette for our night in town, making a reservation well in advance. We were there at 5:00 and the server kept rushing us to order (even when my partner was away from the table). We ordered four dishes and they brought bread, and everything came quickly, but all together so the hot dishes were cold before we finished. There was no explanation or care taken in presenting the meal, just a table filled with food. They twice tried to clear plates before we were done eating and the bill came without prompting. They didn’t even seem that busy. Our meal lasted a mere 55 minutes—it felt like fast food. We were thinking about a second glass of wine as we had lots of time before our concert, but it wasn’t offered. I had been before and this was a very different experience and it certainly didn’t feel like the Michelin experience we’ve come to know.

Amazing food and service! This restaurant has Michelin starts and I can understand why. The octopus carpaccio was 11/10. And the scallops were amazing. Drinks also perfect! I will definitely come back.

The whole feeling of the menu has changed since our last visit ( a long time ago admittedly). The creativity is lacking now. Oysters ? A wedge salad ? Perhaps they are so busy they don't need to try as hard as before I don't know. They still claim sharing plates but there is a burger, a bone in steak ? Weird. We made the mistake of ordering the fries as we expected that if a restaurant of this caliber has fries they will be amazing. Nope. Just fries. Weren't even hot and the place wasn't even half full. Also strange was not being able to book a table for two ( I get it the place is tiny ) but when we got there half the tables had groups of two at them.

The whole experience was very good; food, the space, ambience etc… I must give a special commendation to Bennett - my server, who was convivial and uniformly excellent throughout.

My second visit to Aloette, and there will definitely be a third. A really enjoyable evening of great food and great service (thanks Miss K.!). The Octopus Carpaccio was (again) superb. I made the difficult decision of skipping the Fried Chicken in favour of the Black Truffle Burger, but ‘til next time !

Loved my experience here and will definitely be back. I tried many dishes amongst our group and we had zero complaints on all of them! We had the eggs bene, steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, the crepes, and tots. My only concern is that I didn’t have more time because I wanted to try both the desserts (lemon meringue and carrot cake)! I wasn’t aware of a time limit but I think it was 90 mins so we had to leave as the next reso had arrived. Just more reason to return. Service was great and staff were very friendly.
