   While the food was good, it took the better part of an hour to arrive at our table. Our waiter, nice man, kept reassuring us that our food was on its way. The noise level was the real problem. We had a difficult time hearing each other over the loud noises and the conversations of other diners. It was my first time at Alta Via Fox Chapel and probably my last. I enjoy the Bakery Square restaurant so much more, even if its menu is less than Fox Chapel.

   We chose Alta via for our 40th anniversary because we wanted an amazing dinner and we were not disappointed ! Our dinners were perfect: coppino and the spaghetti with crab were incredible as was the beet salad and the beans and greens. What makes a good dinner great is the service and our waitress, Mary, was attentive and there any time we needed anything. Her attention to us made for a relaxed and special meal and we appreciate that. We ended our meal with the best Tiramisu ever! Great meal. We will be back ! 😊

   Excellent as usual ‼️ Tuna tartare wonderful, all pastas made in house. Veal chop one of best I’ve had.

   The food was delicious! Our waiter was wonderful -attentive and so helpful. The table spacing allows you to have table conversations easily. We will definitely be back!

   Alta Via is one of my go-to favorites for consistently great food, service and atmosphere. One thing I love is that you can order a couple of starters or smaller plates of pasta if you are a light eater or if it's not a splurge occasion. On a recent visit, my friend and I split a salad and the always-yummy beans and greens, and each of us ordered a small pasta dish. I had the cacio e pepe bucatini and friend had pappardelle with lobster. Both were delicious. One small complaint? The bucatini wasn't very hot when it arrived at our table. Honestly, I should have said something to our attentive waiter, but I hate to complain. One of these days I will save enough room for one of their beautiful desserts, the waiter told us they have a new pastry chef. I should mention that the wine list is heavy on Italian wines and they have a good selection of wines by the glass. If you haven't been there, give it a try. If you like upscale (but not super-expensive) Italian food, Alta Via is the place. A bonus: easy & free parking in the shopping center lot. No valet fees here!

   no wait for the reservation. we were not rushed to leave on a Friday. Portions are large. Lobster pasta was good, but dry and needed something--garlic or salt? maybe more sauce? crab pasta tasted like old freezer smell. not a fan. meatball appetizer is best item on the menu. the place is lively and loud. The service was great. $25 corkage seems high but e paid it. room temperature is hot-dress in layers for sure.

   First time to Alta Via but won’t be our last. We had an awesome waiter, Dustin, who was very helpful with the menu and was so pleasant. My husband had the salmon and I had a pasta dish with lobster. Both were delicious. We split the Caesar salad and had dessert. I had the homemade gelato and my husband had the Tiramisu. We were celebrating our anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our evening and Dustin was a great waiter!!

    This was our first time, as it was on our list of Italian restaurants to eat at in Pittsburgh. I wish I could remember the waiters name, but he was great with offerings and explaining the menu with offering interchangeable pasta types. So we did, out with the mafaldine and in with the rigatoni, which was delightful. The espresso martini's were delicious smooth and may I say, just lovely. The cioppino was amazing and flavorful cooked nicely paired with toasted bread. We will definitely be back. Since it was a birthday celebration, we were brought a small complementary gelato with candle along side a limoncello that was the best I've tasted!
