Amaya at Fairmont Grand Del Mar combines the spirit of a beloved Parisian brasserie with a farm- and sea-to-table philosophy that celebrates the bounty of Southern California. Savor modern renditions of French brasserie classics including a hearty bouillabaisse, escargot, duck cassoulet, fruits de mer tour and tender filet de boeuf. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in the shaded terrace surrounded by fragrant blooms, or immerse yourself in the convivial atmosphere of our indoor dining room.

Amaya’s menu is defined as much by an allegiance to French tradition as it is to Southern California’s bounty through the seasons.

It was new year’s day so I am not sure. The last several times I went it was a very nice upscale restaurant. The food was the same but no longer were there table cloths, dim lighting, candles, etc. It was set up more like a standard hotel diner and very casual. Great food but the prices were for an upscale restaurant which it no longer was.

I love the Grand Del Mar and have been coming to Amaya since its grand opening before the Fairmont bought the Property. The hotel is spectacular, always lovely and never disappoints. I often love to come with a friend and just have dinner in the Amaya bar, which is beautiful and quiet and opulent. But ever since the property changed from Manchester to Fairmont, the service at Amaya as well as food quality has gone downhill. It is no longer a 5 star restaurant in my estimation. The service is slow and sloppy. The food preparation almost always has one item that is not up to par, or is under or over cooked. Honestly, it is so disappointing to tell friends that I really want them to experience the ambiance of the hotel and its grounds but then have to make excuses for the menu and service. I went with a friend on New Years Day and all of the above was true, which also makes it over priced. I was so happy Christmas Decor was still up as it is always gorgeous. But during the lunch hour and even in the afternoon the lobby bar, which I love, was not staffed, so no post lunch aperitif. It makes me sad. I wont stop going there, because I love the architecture and opulence of the Hotel, and I will look forward to the day when the Fairmont Corp upgrades their staffing and service requirements.

I prepaid for a prefix brunch tasting menu with a reservation for 11am. When we got there we were given a normal menu and told that “special” menu didn’t start until 12 even though their website said 11-2 and I was able to book for 11. They promised to refund my money and hotel was really apologetic (we were staying there) and gave us a credit to our bill, which was nice. Just disappointing to not get the menu we thought we were getting and the lack of organization with website and whatnot is not what you expect from a 5 star place like the Grand Del Mar

For offering a new years pre fixed Manu of $295 per person. Centerpiece flowers were dead , no music, food was good but disappointing they sold it like an experience and that wasn’t the case it was better upstairs more festive. it wasn’t thought well menu was nice but I would never go back for. New years or a special location to Amaya

I was very disappointed! We booked a NYE experience and were excited only to be met with cold food, poor service, lots of screaming children, and very poor ambiance. We went early to get a drink at the bar in the lobby and they were not seating anyone and had an event going on. The food was a big disappointment and was cold. We were excited to try the French cuisine and love a good tasting menu but if this was the best of the chef I would not recommend to anyone.

The service and the hospitality was excellent, the ambiance was amazing, but the food was terrible and extremely overpriced. We paid $225 a person for a terrible meal that tastes awful, was horribly salty, and should not have cost more that $100 a person. Way overpriced meal.
