Amaya at Fairmont Grand Del Mar combines the spirit of a beloved Parisian brasserie with a farm- and sea-to-table philosophy that celebrates the bounty of Southern California. Savor modern renditions of French brasserie classics including a hearty bouillabaisse, escargot, duck cassoulet, fruits de mer tour and tender filet de boeuf. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in the shaded terrace surrounded by fragrant blooms, or immerse yourself in the convivial atmosphere of our indoor dining room.

Amaya’s menu is defined as much by an allegiance to French tradition as it is to Southern California’s bounty through the seasons.

I love this hotel ! The decor is absolutely beautiful at the Fairmont Grande! The Amaya is in the hotel. We were there on a Friday night. I couldn't believe how uncrowded it was. If you like quiet, uncrowded elegance and delicious food this is a go-to. The Amaya is a beautiful restaurant. My only critique is that the lighting could have been just a little dimmer to enhance the romantic feel of the restaurant. Otherwise I love everything about this hotel. Even the decor in the restroom is a work of art.

Changed chef and it became pretty bad. I was here 2023 and the food was delicious. However, it seems different. The pork chop is hard to chew and wouldn’t recommend it.

So disappointed! I was excited to enjoy a Restaurant Week Lunch with some girlfriends. Unfortunately we were all very underwhelmed. First off, the advertisement was $40 for a 3 course pre-fix lunch. When we go there it was $45 for two courses, with an additional $8 for dessert. That is false advertising! I had the french onion soup. It was bland with no crusty bread and cheese melted on top as is customary, just a lame cracker floating in it. I've had better frozen french onion soup from Costco. The burger was very greasy and not appetizing. The fries were over-salted. Not what I expected from such a high-end hotel.

The restaurant was not busy and the service was good. Had to and a few times for water but our waiter was very personable. The food was mediocre and disappointing. Had the waiter checked with us a few minutes after we tasted our food, we would have told him the chicken was terribly overcooked. I couldn’t even finish eating the white meat. The butternut squash soup was excellent, but that’s a hard recipe to mess up. It was served lukewarm and got cold quickly so that was disappointing. Dessert was outstanding and the waiter brought extra ice cream to make up for the terrible chicken, but it already came with ice-cream and we didn’t need extra. Overall a very mediocre meal. I cook better at home than this and even the dining experience wasn’t anything special. Been here many times before and even to fancy wine tasting dinners where the chef blew us away, so this was very disappointing and I don’t think we will go back. The dining room is stuffy and dated. We decided to eat at the bar upstairs next time for much better ambience .

Amaya is a fantastic restaurant: the food is delicious, service outstanding and the ambience is charming. I have been there few times and every time I annoyed even more than the first time.

We dined at Amaya after a wonderful tour of the private dining spaces for a friend’s wedding. Dezirae showed us around and answered all of our questions, she is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming! She sent out a sweet treat to our table that made the visit extra special. Our servers were attentive and took good care of us. We ordered from the brunch a la carte, I had a delicious eggs Benedict and my friends loved the croque monsieur. My friends are already in the works on planning their wedding dinner, we can’t wait to come back!
