We were married at The Waring House in 2016 and despite remaining local, it has taken too long to return! My sister arranged a special night at a local theatre event and I wanted to treat her and her daughter to a Countylicious they wouldn't forget. As remembered, the food was gorgeous. A very intimate pianist performance in Amelia's garden set the tone. Our drinks were yummy and prepared with great care. Sadly, the service was poor. The staff seemed panicked and spread too thin. As mentioned, we had a theatre performance to attend which we let the server know at the beginning of the night - noting 1.5hrs until we needed to depart. Each course took painfully long to bring out; so much so that we needed to take our dessert in carryout boxes. Each course came with a reminder that we needed to leave for a previous engagement ... to the extent that we asked for carryout containers, ordered take-away desserts and requested the bill when our entrées arrived. Everyone was friendly but no apologies were made and no attempt to rectify the experience. Unfortunately, it soured the tone of the evening (a very busy Saturday). I've previously worked in the industry for six years and have a lot of empathy for our fellow servers. This night now however, fell far below expectations.
