   I’ve come to Ammatoli a few times, but this was the first time I’ve had their brunch. It tasted good however, it wasn’t the best overall experience. I arrived on time for my reservation, but they still made us wait about 15 minutes to be seated. My order was wrong twice, and I had to wait a long time for them to “fix” it each time. So after the second time, I was tired of waiting so I just settled on the meal, but there was no accommodation or hardly a care that the order was wrong two times in a row. The waiter also was not very attentive in that he never brought us an item we ordered, and it wasn’t until we asked that he said they were out. I was surprised because this is not the service I’m accustomed to when I’ve eaten there in the past, so I was quite disappointed. The food still tasted great and the new renovations are beautiful, but the service needs to improve along with everything else.

   First time at this restaurant with my friends and the service from Alex was excellent! She always made sure we were taken cared of. Foods, drinks were so delicious and carefully crafted. We ordered from appetizer to dessert. The ambience was so gorgeous and quaint with a hint of modernity. Pricing was reasonable as well. We will definitely come back.

   Let me start by saying the food was very delicious. We had the spicy hummus, kibbeh, pita bread, msakhan, and shawarma. All were flavorful! The food service is quite quick, which was impressive. It was expensive though for some of the items. We ordered the mint tea, which was just hot water and mint leaves and it was a bit pricey as was the kibbeh balls. We were a party of four yet the server did not let us know there were only three in an order. That would have been appreciated so we could have adjusted accordingly. Desserts were good too, we had the Um Ali and the carrot cake. On many of the dishes, since the food was served family style, serving utensils were not provided and we had to request them. Overall, the ambience was very nice and the food was quite good. I will also add the front staff was very friendly and we were seated right away, which I appreciated.

   I lived in the Middle East for 3 years and always love finding authentic restaurants from their cuisine. They have a large selection of wine and some beer as well. No cocktails but we were so full from the food that we wouldn’t have had many anyway.

   Our favorite place we drive from San Diego to Long Beach for the incredible ambience the amazing food and the most wonderful staff. 10/10 recommend you will not be disappointed!!

    I never normally write reviews but I felt compelled this time. We were a party of 6. After being seated at 6.30 and engaging with the sever, we were suddenly told that the kitchen closes at 7.30pm on tuesdays so we need to hurry up and order our main course. So we ordered our main course and then were told after the server took the order that there’s no rotisserie chicken left. Like that’s their signature dish so why wouldn’t they know when we placed the order? We ordered a different dish. Then after asking about dessert, we were told that they only had baklava after 7.30 and the other desserts were not available. So open table said nothing about the curfew of 7.30 when booking a 6.30 birthday event. Then after dinner we wanted a little of the baklava. Then our server told us it wasn’t available as they gave it to their employees. WTF! Do they want to make money and serve paying customers or not. After indicating it was a birthday event in open table they suddenly have no bloody desert at all. They added a mandatory 22% service charge also. It’s outrageous. I actually felt very let down, embarrassed in front of my guests and I can’t envisage going back until things change. I went there from the very beginning many times and I feel they have got too greedy and over their skiiis. The food is good but given what we experienced I will in future go to Open Sesame on 2nd as a much better dinner for the money and ambience without the pretentious BS of Ammatoli. Ammatoli is not value for money at all. To top it off, they require a credit card for a res and will charge you for no show even if the place is empty. I just cannot recommend it. So sad as it had a great start in the location. You will not succeed with these policies and level of service, sorry.
