   The atmosphere was great and the food was lovely. Being gluten free it was the first restaurant in the area where I could have a burger!

   At 1.30pm we were literally the only customers in there. Seated and drinks order taken swiftly but had to wait a while for food order to be taken. During this time the 5 members of staff loud conversations could be overheard - some of which were a tad unsavoury (child abuse/diddy!). Service was lacking - would have been nice if we had been asked if we wanted more drinks and a checkback to see if the food was ok, especially as we were the only 2 customers in the place. Instead we had to stop eating to go to the bar and reorder. Saving grace was the food - absolutely delish! Beautifully cooked and mouth watering. Steak skewers, tacos and dirty fries all to die for! Would come back for the food but maybe on an evening in the hope that it would be a bit busier.

   So, not my first visit to Ascotts and won’t be my last as the atmosphere is so welcoming and vibrant, the choice of great food is plentiful and the service is so friendly from all the team. The new chef seems to be making his mark already and he listens to customers individual requirements and delivers the goods. All in all a great night out in a lovely bespoke restaurant with a kicking vibe.

   Busy evening, but with the upstairs now open the service team looked overwhelmed. We had to ask three times to even place our food order - which was eventually done 45 minutes after sitting down. When we ordered water for the table it also took an awfully long time. Food itself came promptly, a bit average to be honest. The chicken wings were not good - 3 of the party had them and everyone left at least one wing un-eaten. It was a shame as previous experiences have been better.

    Excellent as usual. Visit to celebrate my son’s graduation. Great food excellent drinks especially the Cisk and 2 cocktails for £12. Wonderful Ascott’s team created a congratulations cake, brilliant.
