   I had the pleasure of having a business lunch at Bar La Rue in Chicago recently, and it was a memorable experience. My colleague and I decided to share a cheeseburger and a lobster roll with frites, accompanied by diet cokes. The ambiance of Bar La Rue is perfect for a business meeting, with a chic and comfortable atmosphere that allows for easy conversation. The service was attentive and prompt, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. As for the food, both the cheeseburger and lobster roll were exceptional. The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, with a delicious blend of toppings. The lobster roll was a standout, with tender, succulent lobster meat perfectly complemented by a light, buttery roll. The frites were crispy and seasoned just right, adding a delightful crunch to our meal. Overall, Bar La Rue exceeded our expectations, making it an ideal spot for a business lunch. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Chicago. In fact, I was so impressed that I plan to return soon with my wife to try their dinner menu.

   Brandon was a great server, but our food order took almost an hour to arrive at the table. Although the restaurant was very forgiving and the food and drinks themselves were great, if you go, just expect a wait! I recommended the Frenchie and Strawberry Spritz.

   Super cute concept in Fulton Market!! Felt like stepping out of Chicago. Food was mediocre in my opinion, but my friends really enjoyed the burger! Drinks did not seem strong as well.

   The hostess was nice but a little condescending. She sat us at a table close to the door and we just asked if it was possible to move a little further in to avoid the draft but She said this was all they had but if something else opened up she would let us know. And then dropped a “hope you still enjoy yourself though”  didn’t really think much of it. Maybe it was just an awkward delivery but then my friend saw a table open up mind you this was at the very beginning of being seated so we were not moving drinks or food around and the hostess let us move and again “hope you can enjoy your time here” and that time it caught my attention. Service was sparse but ok. The food was not that great. The chicken sandwhich was overly breaded and not with good breading. The steak frites were better. Tuna tartar was more of a ceviche than a tartar but tasted good. Bar La Rue is more of vibe than a good restaurant. Has potential if they work on improving the menu but for now it’s a cute spot for drinks

   Bar La Rue has a lot of atmosphere and character, and looks good inside and out. We had a lovely celebratory brunch and enjoyed the food and drinks at this popular neighbourhood destination restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly and we really enjoyed whiling away a couple of hours in a beautiful and warm setting, on what was a very chilly day.

    Valentine’s day service was good, the steak and frites was ok, the steak was 4-5 pieces and really tough. Sauce for fries was good. For $75 per person, there really wasn’t enough food served, you can tell they were really portioned. The music was so loud I was like screaming trying to talk to my partner to get her to hear me. Not so “romantic” if you want a quieter environment for a Valentine’s day dinner. 😐
