Our first experience was mixed. The food is fantastic, as were the drinks. However, the service was a disaster from start to finish. Service was slow, inconsistent and is clearly a fault of a poorly managed and inexperienced service team.

We went for the special restaurant week menu. We look forward to it every year. Our server was very good and the food and drinks were so so good. The birria tacos are our favorite and the guacamole with pomegranate seeds is wonderful. The avocados are diced, not smashed. It makes an attractive presentation with the red seeks on top. The chimi dessert was decadent and the margarita flight was special. I highly recommend it!

We were there for restaurant week. We made reservation reservations through open table. They sat us right away, but the service was terrible. It took a very long time to get our drinks to our table and took even longer for the food to come out, our appetizers came out with our dinner entrée.

We’ve enjoyed eating here in the past, but this last visit was disappointing. All of our food was extremely over salted and they didn’t have enough waitstaff on the patio.

I brought a big group to the patio to show off Barrio Queen to family visiting from out of town, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. The food arrived cold and lacked the flavor we’ve come to expect. Service was slow and inattentive, which dragged out the whole experience. It’s disappointing to see the quality decline, especially given the strong reputation and history Barrio Queen once had.

Made a reservation for an anniversary, we got there and it didn’t seem to matter to the receptionist. In the reservation it clearly stated to sit outside, we were asked while checking in where we would like to sit, which defeats the purpose of the reservation itself. The Queso Fundió was good, but the cheese was way too watery for how hot the plate was. I had initially ordered the Pulled Pork, but waiter came saying they just ran out, then proceeded to to order the Carne Asada(NY Strip) plate, I asked for medium, when it arrived it was well done, no pink and dried. It may not be and upscale restaurant, but if you are going to try and charge as one, the service and food fell short.

Steak fajitas arrived cold and way over cooked. Asked for medium rare and got passed well done and dried out. The server was nice to take it off the bill but it was gross and a new plate to come out was too long to wait for considering how long we had already waited.

Our waitress Kensie A. was very nice and attentive to our orders. As well as to require if our drinks were refilled as we requested. The meals we ordered were served hot and exactly as we liked.
