Bas Rouge has always been one of our favorites. The food is consistently delicious and expertly prepared, and the service is polished and attentive. We’ve recommended it to friends from Maryland and Delaware, and they’ve been just as impressed as we are. So why the four stars instead of five? One of the things we love is browsing the online menu before making a reservation—it’s part of the anticipation. But lately, the menu hasn’t been updated, and the items we’re coming in for aren’t available when we arrive. On our last visit, for example, the foie gras—which we consider Bas Rouge’s signature dish—was missing, even though the rest of the menu was the same. It’s a small but frustrating issue, especially when it’s the dish that makes us choose Bas Rouge in the first place. Hopefully, they’ll address this in the future.

My husband & I were celebrating our anniversary & wanted to go someplace special. We knew that Bas Rouge was a James Beard winning restaurant & decided to go there. And was it worth it! The whole experience was absolutely wonderful….each course was delicious; incredible service; a relaxing atmosphere where you can actually talk to each other without shouting; a little table to place my purse so that it didn’t have to be on the floor; even a doggie bag with more treats! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I had lunch there and everything from the service of the atmosphere to the food was exquisite. This is a special trip that we have made annually and will continue to do so. It is a little pricey and it is worth the money that you pay for this experience.

We’ve been before and will go again. And describing a dinner here is always about weighing degrees of excellence. That said, the kitchen’s timing was off last night in a way that the third or fourth offering of the bread basket just couldn’t disguise. Once it emerged, our food was still perfect, however!
