   It was our first time at Bern’s. We have heard so much about this institution and was excited to finally dine there. We decided to have the filets, since this is a steakhouse. It was great having soup, salad and a potato as part of the “meal”. Definitely a fair price for all of those courses. We did order a couple of the cheeses and they were incredible! Love it! My biggest disappointments were the steak itself and my dessert. The steak has a smoke flavor. I don’t care for smoked flavoring, so I didn’t like my steak at all. The bacon bits they put on the potato also have a Smokey flavor, so my potato was also a disappointment. A loaded potato sounded so good too. The biggest disappointment was my dessert, especially after all the build up I heard about the dessert room. I got the coconut custard and the custard was runny. I prefer a firmer custard. I ordered a coffee with my dessert and they were still making it by the time my husband finished with his dessert- I didn’t eat the custard. Apparently, they were slammed. All and all, it’s a fine place to dine but it didn’t seem like Fine Dining to me.

   Everything was super. Kids menu had to be requested even though we sat down with a 3 year old needing a high chair. Other than thinking that was a given, everything was perfect!

   We went to Bern’s for our anniversary. Please be aware that reservations are made months in advance! And also, the website, the reservations site and their confirmation emails and phone calls, all stress that men all must wear jackets…that was not the case at the restaurant, over 50% of men were not in jackets and even spotted T-shirts and baseball caps. That being said, the food ans service were impeccable! Our waiter, Eric, was professional and knowledgeable. We wanted to go to the upstairs dessert room, but their was a 15-20 minute standing wait on stairs that did not work for my mobility challenged husband.

   Bern's is a Tampa icon for good reason! The food, ambiance, and service never disappoint. We had a nice celebration dinner here, trying the tuna and waygu appetizer (which was fantastic), and steak dinners for each of us. The steaks were great, especially the chateaubriand, and I love that for the price they include soup, salad (try the macadamia salad dressing!), and three sides. We also love that there were extensive options for wines by the glass - we tried a 2019 Silverado Cabernet and 2019 Chateau Montelena, neither of which I've seen on a glass menu before. One of our New Years resolutions was to try more wines, and this is a great place to do so without having to get an entire bottle! We ended with a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar, which had been on hiatus for a few years post-COVID. It was super cool to get to see the impressively sized kitchen, and a peek at their collection of rare bottles. We skipped the dessert room on this trip, but if you have the time it is always a fun experience there as well.

   My wife and I had a great dinner at Bern's. The service was impeccable from the hostess to our dinner server, Samuel then to our dessert server, Josh. We ordered the Escargot, Chateaubriand and a Delmonico. Both cooked perfectly. We also loved the house made dressings. We never felt rushed and the courses were presented as we were ready. It was a lot of food! To go boxes are available. A great place for a special occasion.

   Absolutely splendid evening! The service, food, and ambiance were top tier. From the moment we walked in we felt a personal level of service. The food was beyond delicious. Grant, our server, made excellent suggestions. The wine cellar tour was something out of my dreams. We followed up with the dessert room and felt like we had been transported to an older world. Such a wonderful way to spend our 5th anniversary!
