There are ninety-nine different ways to write “sushi” in the Japanese script of kanji. Each with its own unique interpretation and meaning. It was with great deliberation that our founder, Billy, chose 寿司 to best represent his personal interpretation of the word - Celebration of Fish!

That’s exactly how Billy feels about the art of making sushi and the atmosphere that surrounds it - it should be a celebration! Which is why Billy Sushi is more than just a restaurant, it is an experience for anyone who allows themselves to take part.

A three-ring performance of sorts - sushi bar, sake bar and dining room - brought to life by the performances of sushi chefs, bartenders and servers. And the Ring Master and your host, Billy.

From the OpenTable editors: Creative rolls like the uncultured swan with shrimp tempura and unagi sauce set the stage for a rollicking time at this always-busy North Loop hotspot. Chef and owner Enkhbileg “Billy” Tserenbat has been cooking in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years and often checks in on tables himself, so don't feel shy asking him for menu recs. Settle into one of several sleek tables, choose a drink from the extensive sake and whisky selection, and be prepared to have one of the best nights out.

    Really delicious food. The fatty bluefin was amazing. All of the fish was tasty and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The gyoza were great and the tempura rocked, but the sushi was really the standout.

    It was our anniversary and my boyfriend’s first time at Billy’s. He loved the experience and the atmosphere of the place. Excellent sushi, very fresh. Will for sure be returning. I cannot remember our servers name but she was so welcoming and friendly!

    Amazing service and fun food experience. Authentic sushi and fresh from Japan. Our server was so knowledgeable which I appreciated when you’re not familiar with the variety of sushi and fish options. Lots of non sushi options too for our daughter that prefers warm food.

    Overall, the place is overpriced considering the quality of the food, ambiance, and tableware. Drinking sake from a water glass instead of a proper sake cup is really disappointing. The music is also cheap-sounding EDM. The glass case containing the sushi ingredients looks too messy and unorganized, which is quite unappetizing. Also the sushi was not properly seasoned, which was shocking from the very first taste.

    Always a great experience as I usually visit every couple weeks and love taking my clients here. Alex is the best server ever and does a great job taking care of us!
