Named after La Jolla’s popular Open Aire Farmer’s Market, Bistro du Marché allows chef Diot to work closely with farmers to incorporate the finest local flavors into his dishes. Led by Cheffe Amélie Gadoum, Bistro du Marché incorporates quality ingredients and rigorous French technique. Signature dish includes Wild Mushroom Ravioli in Port wine Sauce. One of the specialties: Un Coq au Vin "Ivre de Bourgogne" Organic Chicken Braised in Red Wine Sauce, Yukon Gold Mashed Potato, Carrot, Mushrooms.

Bistro du Marché is based on the culinary concept of “bistronomie”, that emerged in Paris. Bistronomie, is a play on words on the concepts of “bistro” and “gastronomie”. It is a form of French cuisine that emphasizes the blending of haute gastronomic expertise, seasonality, and the traditional “cuisine de terroir” found in bistros across France. The youthfulness of the bistronomie movement has succeeded in reinvigorating French classic cuisine, and raised the bar of traditional French bistros.

Very nice restaurant with a nice menu. Prices are fairly reasonable given La Jolla and quality of food. I do enjoy coming here even though it's a bit of a drive from San Marcos. I definitely recommend Bistro du Marche.

From the moment I checked in with the friendly staff at the host stand, who took the time to chat and ensure I was comfortable, to the excellent service provided by my server, this establishment consistently impressed with both the quality of its dishes and exceptional customer service. The menu was a true delight. I had the mushroom ravioli and duck confit, and both dishes were perfectly prepared, bursting with flavor, and beautifully presented. The combination of warm hospitality, attentive service, and outstanding food makes this gem a standout dining destination. I highly recommend this place for a memorable experience.

The food and service were outstanding! Julien was our server. He was delightful, both welcoming and professional. We shared the daily special appetizer of chicken liver mousse…delicious. The cheese puffs were breathtaking…the texture of a fine popover. I had Coq au Vin, which was amazing!! We brought our own fine Burgundy wine and the meal was simply perfect.

We have enjoyed Bistro du Marche on several occasions. On this visit there was a decided difference in the dishes we ordered. The staff, service, dining room and other guests were up to par. Sadly the food was less enjoyable. We will go again. Every place has an off night.

Went for our anniversary and had a wonderful dinner. Felt like I was eating in France. We had the brie cheese and country pâté starters, then the Hokkaido scallops and finally the profiteroles. All were delicious! The service was great, too.
