At our Bistro du Vin in Edinburgh we focus on fresh, tasty, well-made dishes to offer you an appetising and intriguing menu that we're passionate about and we hope you enjoy. We take time at our Edinburgh restaurant to find the right ingredients and produce, as we want you to enjoy dishes full of depth and flavour at a reasonable price.

Everything at our Edinburgh bistro is served by attentive and exceptionally knowledgeable waiting staff who are happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations - as is your Sommelier who is also ready to advise, guide, match or recommend the perfect wine from our extensive wine list.

We had a very good meal and the service was excellent. It was marvellous to get a proper French meal with escargots, chateaubriand and tarte tatin - an excellent set dinner with a bottle of red Bordeaux wine. The price, however was more elevated than it might have been, but I am perhaps a bit out of date.

DO NOT MAKE AN OPEN TABLE RESERVATION FOR THIS RESTAURANT - we made a reservation for New Year's Eve dinner using open table and when we got there they said they didn't have it in their system and couldn't fit us in. Took zero accountability and said it's open tables fault. Nail in the coffin was not getting drinks comp'd and then taking forever to give us the bill.

They literally placed us in the hallway. Claimed they did not have time to check their email to see our booking??? What’s the point??

No atmosphere , too few staff and food was ordinary . The wine waiter poured the wine without asking if we wished to taste and then filled every glass to a different level . When he was requested to open the red to let it breath, he didn’t know why we wanted to do that .. This at Hotel du vin !!! The clue is in the title .

The overall experience was nice and majority of food was lovely. However they really need work on the presentation of the black pudding salad. I really hope this allows me to upload a photo- because it looked honestly like a dog had squatted onto a salad plate. I’ll leave it at that!! My poor mum didn’t know what to say ( we were all laughing becasue it looked so awful) so she just broke it up and ate it. A better woman than me!!

Perfect venue for pre performance meal at Festival Theatre (6-7 minute walk). Helpful, friendly staff, good service. My cod was absolutely delicious.

Food was good or mine was - onion soup one of best . Rump decent. Service was slow and just not great . I would go back for the soup !
