This is a celiac or gluten intolerant's dream experience. Most of the food is gluten free. Felt safe and answered all my questions with confidence. Very few items are not GF and even if so, they can accomodate. Try the cheese fondue with gluten free pizza crust. It is LITERALLY amazing.

The food was great but our waiter made it really hard to enjoy. He just tossed the menus at us and didn’t give us time to ask questions before he’d leave. I put on the reservation I was celebrating my birthday and I was so surprised by his utter lack of attention. It’s so disappointing because I had a great experience before.

Bistro Menil is the best restaurant in Houston. The atmosphere is balanced and classy with great windows and decor. The service is excellent and consistent. The menu has a great selection and each meal I've had has always been enjoyable, very tasty with a wonderful presentation as well. Everytime I visit, it's always a perfect experience and the quality with Chef Greg and his team and the consistency makes it my favorite restaurant in Houston.

A wonderful lunch (on Valentine’s Day). Chef Greg Martin delivered on every dish. Fantastic eggplant fries with anchovy aioli and a zingy chili sauce. Shrimp and meaty chorizo with an abundance of delectable bread. Crisp JL crab cakes in tangy tartar. Fall apart short rib. Al dente brussel sprouts with pancetta. Amazing house fries (roast potato cubes, if truth be known). And lemon tart … oh my goodness. All washed down with a nice Côtes du Rhône from the brief but well compiled wine list. Five well-earned stars.

A early lunch with friends was made most enjoyable by the tasteful decor and sound dampening ceiling installed in the Bistro. We were able to converse easily. The menu offered both light and hearty dishes. The potato and manchego cheese balls appetizer provided enough for three people. The French Onion soup did not satisfy the traditional expectations. Rather than brûléed cheese atop french bread, the cheese sank to the bottom. Flavor was good though. The entrees of trout, quiche Lorraine and chicken and artichoke crepes were delicious and well cooked. The mash of cauliflower and potatoes was served with a generous dollop of butter. The cold zucchini side was very tasty as were the chunky Bistro fries. The side salad was fresh but the oil was too strong. Acid or salt would have helped brighten the flavor. Staff was attentive without being intrusive. Prices were reasonable for an elevated dining experience.
