This is our go-to place for sushi. For the outstanding quality of sushi you cannot beat the price. The sushi rice is the perfect balance of seasoning to the fish ratio. The sashimi melts in your mouth, and the in-house made gyoza is one of the best in the city. If you wanted to treat yourself, try the Wagyu hot stone. It's a fun date experience, where you and your date can grill the generous portion of Wagyu from your table. I've been coming here for over 15 years, and it's still my favorite sushi place in Vancouver.

Service was fast and rude. Suddenly the server came and put the bill on our table and then the card machine. No warning. It seems there was a 90 minute time limit but other tables were there before us and there when we left. Rolls were dry and poorly made. Sashimi was pretty good. Overall very unimpressive.

I think this is just an average Sushi place. Portion is small and Hamachi sashimi was slightly frozen.

Bistro Sakana always impresses us with culinary genius without a hint of pretension. The jalapeño salmon aburi had to be repeated and the smoked duck breast was very impressive. The smoked tuna was the perfect finale with the tabletop unveiling of the delicate tuna and its smoky preparation.
