Black Sheep Brasserie is located in the heart of downtown Willow Glen, featuring a mix of modern Californian and classic French inspired cuisine composed of seasonal ingredients. With an eclectic and restrained French varietal wine list, local and foreign craft beers, classic rooted cocktails, and an extensive and thoughtful spirits selection; Black Sheep has something for every taste. A collective effort brought together by the man behind Cascal in Mountain View and formerly of Le Mouton Noir, Birk’s, and Cin-Cin. In partnership with the three minds behind The Lexington House in Los Gatos to bring San Jose, and the South Bay, something of a “black sheep” out of the herd…

Had a reservation and they sat us at the bar! Was not thrilled … the food was ok for the price probably won’t be going back.

The food was great. The offerings were great. But the service was honestly very slow and not to the level I would expect for the price. Myself and my fiancé are bartenders and very lenient with service going to other restaurants but the service here was very slow and lack luster. We were seated at our reservation time which was great and I give leniency for it being Valentine’s Day, but our server was not attentive and we needed to flag them down for drinks and to order. Granted we were waiting for other guests to arrive, aside from that, the flow and attentiveness of the server to clear or offer more beverages was lacking and our food took quite a long time to arrive. I would give it another chance for the sake of the food

It was Valentine’s Day, so the place was very busy, but we had to wait around 10 minutes for our waiter to come by and another 10 minutes before we got any water. The waiter was very nice, but you could tell he was a bit overwhelmed by how busy the restaurant was. We ordered the duck breast and the tomahawk pork chop; the duck breast was perfectly cooked but it was tiny - with two small carrots, two small asparagus, and some broccolini, not worth the price tag at all. The pork chop was very good, no notes on that. We also ordered the bread pudding, which had some kind of almond liqueur which had not been cooked down all the way giving the dessert a bitter taste.

With Stacks taking over the location and name, we were confused what we were walking into. The location is still nice and the food is still good however, the service was a bit off than in past visits. The staff was still very nice and apologized for the problems and compensated us. The table next to us also had issues and commented to us as we left. Overall, good. We will go back in a bit to give them another chance.

A really good neighborhood restaurant. Service was very attentive. Good bar. Great oysters. Terrific salad that we shared. And the fresh salmon was prepared perfectly. It was my husband's birthday so it is perfect for special occasions. But we will go back for a regular dinner soon.

Food was amazing and our server was lovely. My primary issue was that it seemed like the service team was incredibly understaffed. It took a long time for our server to help us, and it was definitely because she was CONSTANTLY rushing to help all of her tables. I empathized with her but it still did result in super slow service for us.

First time for us. We really enjoyed all the food we ate. Gnocchi appetizer, Wedge Salad, Tomahawk Pork Chop, Hamburger and fries. Really excellent. Now this was a colder January evening, and the temperature in the restaurant was chilly.....we left our puffers on.

The food was pretty good, although disappointingly they were out of the first two things we wanted to order (including the seasonal fish), so we had to go with a third choice - short ribs for $42, which were tender and tasty. What really got my goat, however, was the abusive pricing on bottled water. As soon as we sat down, the server asked if we'd like sparkling or still water. Since she didn't want sparkling water, my wife answered still water, not realizing that she was ordering bottled water. They brought us a 28 oz bottle of Saratoga water, and charged us $12 for it, although the street price appears to be around $2.50. A 380% markup seems excessive to me, and of course they ask you in a manner such that you might well not be aware of the price when you answer. In my wife's case, she was not even aware that she was ordering something she would be charged for (and I just let it go, not wanting to be cheap, but wrongly assuming they would not charge so much for such a thing). An honest restaurant would volunteer the price of anything else they offer you that's not on the menu. Otherwise, it's a cheap trick to squeeze a few more dollars out of you.
