   Overall good experience and the food was amazing. Our waiter wasn't super attentive but the rest of the staff was on point and it helped the whole experience. Would definitely recommend!

   What a truly wonderful "find," right on Fisherman's Wharf. Unlike so many of the more "touristy" oriented venues, The Blue Mermaid had a home town, local color vibe that was made all the better by the excellent service. Our host and waiter were attentive, offered great menu suggestions, and checked in just enough, a skill I really appreciate. We started with the excellent Crab Louis, which featured a generous portion of fresh-caught Dungeness Crab, and all the other delicious garden gems you'd expect. It was expertly dressed, and the kitchen graciously served it so it was easy to split between the two of us. Absolutely loved the Popcorn Shrimp Cornet, which came with a slightly spicy batter and really vibrant remoulade dipping sauce. Fish and Chips was great - 3 big portions of fish, along with lightly seasoned fries that were superb. I know that sounds over the top, but our dinner was really outstanding. We capped it off with a slice of their remarkable Key Lime Pie, which featured a delicious nut-based graham cracker crust. The cocktails were great -- we tried the Lombard Breeze, Wharf Sunset (a really nice mocktail), and Espresso Martini, and each was delicious. We had to speed up our dinner in order to get to a show that followed, and the staff were really accommodating about accelerating the process without us feeling rushed. (Thank you!) Next time when we can linger, we want to try some of the other entrees (like the Coconut Shrimp Curry) and other appetizers!

   I brought my husband to Blue Mermaid for his birthday. I did not realize that my reservation was also during the Happy Hour time, but the restaurant, which we love and have frequented (including for Christmas 2022) was still quiet before the beginning of a big NFL game (it is January 2025). Great server, friendly staff, and lots of good options for fish nibbles. The restaurant has tables and booths, and we had a quiet booth. My husband loves Fish & Chips, and Blue Mermaid has a great crispy coat on their version of the dish, and brought out some malt vinegar for the chips. He tried a Lagunitas beer I had not seen on many menus and Blue Mermaid has a good selection of Mocktails for the designated driver or non-alcohol drinkers in your party. The restaurant is in a beautiful hotel called "The Argonaut" in SF's Fisherman's Wharf, close to the Aquatic Park, and we took a walk in the area both before and after dinner. We are local to the SF Bay Area so I hope to come back to Blue Mermaid, maybe as part of a "staycation" at the Argonaut and try their breakfast offerings. Or come back for one of the weekend brunches. Great local choice.

   Delicious dinners... every time! Popcorn shrimp appetizer, added clam chowder last visit...absolutely superb, one of the best! "Hands of Time" chardonnay excellent, salmon entree, other entrees, ample portions. (crab salad not a favorite.) Host Josh and waiter Brian professional, cordial, service prompt and welcoming. Note for locals: Generous discount, I think 15-20% off total bill!

   We ate here for New Year’s Eve and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! All of the staff went above and beyond to see that we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely amazing! My husband raved about the clam chowder and we split the fish and chips and lobster ravioli which were both incredible! I highly recommend the Blue Mermaid for anyone in the San Francisco area!!

    We had reservations for 8. We were seated by the host. We sat and waited for service and had several servers walk by and avoid eye contact. No one came to our table. After 15 minutes we got up and walked out. We went to Bueno Vista around the corner and had a great experience.
