    We had a great time and great food here. We ordered the best salmon and the sausage pasta was extraordinary. The service was top notch and personal. It was like we were welcomed into their home. Top of our list of restaurants in SF. We will definitely come back.

    da Scene: Just a little up Green St. you'll find a newer spot: food with heart and wine with legs @ Bocconcino. Smart and stylish interior, surrounded by warm light wood, with a mix of contemporary and old school Italian beats playing softly so you can chat. da Grub: we were asked if this was our 1st visit and if we were in the mood for something different... of course! Out comes thinly sliced beef tongue with some herbs piped on top, not slathered; just enough to complement the tongue. Could've had another plate of that, but since off menu, didn't wanna push our luck! Next up was grilled artichoke in balsamic, didn't see that on the menu either, gotta love summer. Polipo was charred perfection, smokey with a zesty sauce drizzled. Then the Gnocchi in gorgonzola... easily top 3 ever had, the sauce was somehow rich but light and the pillows of potato just disappeared on your mouth. I love gnocchi in pesto, and was tempted to ask for it, but was glad I kept my trap shut! Secondi was a braised pork rib atop the Risotto del Giorno; today was savory and tomato based, not a creamy/cheesy type (sorry forgot to snap a pic!). No fork needed, a spoon was given confidently and correctly used to gently pull meat from bone and sop up the well-rounded red sauce and rice. Many wines by the glass were offered and paired, happy for the suggestions. Finished with a couple of espresso, they know how to use the 3k machine, thank goodness. da Service: Felt like family friends over for dinner as we sat next to the bar, the guy behind it (thought initially was the manager) struck up a conversation as we pondered the menu. Rosario asked if we would like to try some specials... I learned to be adventurous, and when opportunities present themselves, be ready to pounce. We were well rewarded and later found out he is the chef/owner. Just an excellent experience from seating to invoice, folks that felt more like friends than servers. Can't wait to bring my girls, Aloha & Buona Cera!

    I live in Marin, and realized that I have to go to SF for excellent Italian Food. Seafood Ravioli was delicious, Caesar salad dressing spectacular, prawns wrapped in petrale sole, fantastic. We will be back!

    Got rhe gnocci, lamb shank and the rigatoni with lamb ragu. All the food was delicious and tasty. Service was friendly. Place is a bith small so reservations are recommended. Enjoyed the food and would certainly be back again!

    The food was fantastic! The gnocchi melted in your mouth. The bolognese was just like my mama made! To top it off, the waiters were great and the owner was a hoot! He was so engaging and fun to talk to. All Italian and just a very fun atmosphere! Highly recommend it!

    I recently had the pleasure of hosting a small group of guests at Bocconcino in North Beach, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Rosario, the owner, whose gracious hospitality made us feel like part of the family. His presence throughout the evening brought a personal touch that elevated the entire dining experience. Our server, Antonio, deserves special mention, his professionalism, attentiveness, and expert knowledge of the menu truly set him apart. Without exaggeration, he may well be one of the finest waiters in San Francisco. We began our meal with the crostini di prosciutto e formaggio, which were a perfect balance of savory and crisp, a delightful start. Soon after, we noticed a stunning pasta dish being served at a nearby table. Intrigued, we inquired and learned it was the special pasta of the night, dubbed the "Roma" by Rosario. While he kept the exact ingredients under wraps, he described it as a fusion of carbonara and meat rigatoni, a unique and unforgettable creation. It was, without question, one of the best pasta dishes any of us had ever tasted. We followed with a beautifully prepared Caesar salad and a fresh, vibrant insalata mista, both of which showcased the quality of the ingredients and the kitchen's attention to detail. For the main course, I enjoyed a perfectly cooked red snapper served over creamy mashed potatoes, a dish that was as visually appealing as it was flavorful. My guests sampled a range of entrées, including the eggplant parmigiana, the risotto ai frutti di mare, and the rigatoni alla bolognese. Each dish was expertly executed and received high praise for its authenticity and depth of flavor. We paired our meal with an excellent bottle of Barolo, which complemented every course beautifully. For dessert, we shared three delightful selections: a lemon torte, vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, and a delicate white dolce cake, all outstanding.
