Argentina-raised John Rattagan was the family grill master from an early age, in a country where the asado (barbecue) enjoys near sacred status. Luckily for London, he left his homeland as a young man and set up Buen Ayre in the heart of trendy Hackney. The headline act is the steaks, served in a range of cuts with a simple garnish.     one of my favourite restaurants in london. scrap that, one of my favourite anywhere. if you’re a meat lover it’s the very best of the Argentinian steakhouse experience. when that hot plate comes out with generous, perfectly cooked ‘hunks’ of meat and provolone melting by its side, you can’t help regret any stomach space you’ve wasted in the previous 24 hours. Venue itself has an unpretentious, authentic feel to it, and the staff are always cool, easy going & friendly. just an all round great experience, and very reasonably priced. the only negative - it takes over an hour for me to get there from north west london!

    In my experience, Buen Ayre is the best steak restaurant anywhere, and most definitely my favourite restaurant in London. John and his wonderful team can always be relied upon for great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Thank you once again for a tremendous evening, I am already looking forward to the next time :).

    Took my daughters and girlfriend & it’s just such a relaxed enjoyable place to be. Both servers a joy.. funny, good and helpful. Steak was exceptional, sweetbreads delicious, morcilla a joy, provolone just as it should be and the reasonably price Malbec delicious…. Desserts a good end & a final Fernet Bramca brought things to a close. Thanks Buen Ayre..

    Consistently delicious steaks. We hadn’t been there for three years, but the experience was just as good as the last time in terms of very good steak, good service and a relaxing ambience
