Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion - whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work.

Our menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal classics that come and go throughout the year. We put care into our vegetarian dishes too, including making our own tempeh, falafel, and veggie patties from scratch. Menu items change frequently--usually every day--and reflect many long-standing relationships we have with farms and breweries in our region.

In addition to reservations, we also have a thirty seat bar that is first come, first serve. We don’t know exactly how old the bar is, but it’s at least seventy years old (probably older) and very cozy. Our friendly bartenders are here to make something you like.

Lola was absolutely amazing . Very attentive and gave us great recommendations. Highly recommended trying the espresso martini on Martini Monday. Cant wait to return

This was an odd one for us… but probably should have researched a bit more. I think for a weeknight burger and some great apps, this is a fit. For a more special quarterly dinner out with friends, it was a bit of a miss. This is a casual menu with a strong emphasis on sandwiches vs entrees/specials, and ultimately that’s on us I guess. The space is cool and we were grateful for the way the seating is sectioned off into smaller curtained rooms. It made for a quiet, cozy vibe. Good drink menu. Food was pretty good, nothing really went over the top for us. Highlights were the steak frites and honey cake dessert. Chocolate cake dessert was also good. Raclette appetizer was WAY over sold by the server as something amazing and it just wasn’t very amazing at all. It was fine, but it was not the otherworldly dish we were anticipating. Would come back for a burger, hoping to “get it” as I know many love this spot.

Our party of 6 enjoyed our dinner at Butterjoint. Friendly, fast service, but not rushed. Food was all very good.

This popular restaurant has an interesting menu. Rachel, our waitress, was friendly and professional. The timing of our cocktails and meal was perfect. The food was delicious. We will go back.

Butterjoint is a consistent favorite. The lumps and pierogi are great starters. My husband loves the Butterjoint burger and I adore the salmon. The chef was gracious enough to switch out a side for me that was more to my taste. Don’t let difficult parking prevent you from going. It is amazing!
