Anthony D was a great server, he took care of us and immediately knew what to do when I told him it was my daughter's birthday, I appreciate the response and made our experience great. Food was very good, mostly inventive. I guess it's a gastropub so treat the entrees like larger tapas dishes, order a few to share from the mains list (we ordered ratatouille and treated it like an app) . One negative about the place was a smell of cigarette smoke perhaps coming from the room next door where they were having a private party. No one was smoking at the bar or dining room. Since all resto's have been smoke free for so long, it's really obvious when people are smoking.

The service was good, but the food was not. Steak was reminiscent of Texas Road House.

The pomme Frits were amazing! I loved the coziness of the entire pub where it made you feel like you had stepped back in time. I had the mussels with pasta which was good but a little too salty, my husband had mashed potatoes with pork cheeks which were very good! Dessert was their chocolate mousse which was very decadent, so creamy smooth! The entire experience was lovely and we look forward to going back.

Butterworth's is a French gem located close to Eastern market. We were there for lunch and were surprised at the unusual menu items. I had the Lamb ham platewhile my friend had the smoked salmon. Both were delicious. We didn't take the time to enjoy the tea service, but it looked like they do it right; served in teapots in china teacups. I'd be interested in returning to experience their evening menu.

In a jungle of the generic, industrial bland sameness of DC dining, Butterworth’s stands out. A new favorite spot.

Great food and service. Menu a little odd - with no accompaniment with entrees. Had veg as a starter and steak as entree.

Seated quickly, was not busy, ordered two entrees and two soft drinks. Seemed like it would be a pleasant experience for a business lunch. Nothing after 40 minutes after being reassured twice our food was coming. Never received food or soft drinks. We left to eat elsewhere. Very disappointing.
