   The ambiance at the Chalkboard is wonderful, the food delicious, the menu options interesting and varied, and the service exceptional. So glad we had Tommy as our server, he I made the night very special.

   My wife and I visited for brunch after she told me of a wonderful lunch experience she’d had there. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. But first let me say that our waitress was wonderful and, other than the food itself, our time there was pleasant. Unfortunately the food quality was bad enough to tank the whole visit. We ordered Crepe Suzette to share and when the dark, crispy, burnt crepes arrived were a little surprised. After we had both taken a tasting bite, tasting no butter, no sugar, only alcohol and mandarin orange juice, we didn’t take another. Then the main order arrived and were again shocked to see a plate of burnt bacon, and brown rubbery scrambled eggs placed in front of her. On the positive side the sourdough toast was good and the potatoes were ok. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and will say that the crab cake was great! However, the poached eggs were both hard and the avocados were brown. So again, just more surprised disappointment. We did tell our waitress, very politely, that the quality was well below what we expected and she was so delightful. She offered to have the kitchen make us another plate, but our time was too short for that, so she instead comped one of the plates. After this experience I’m sure we will give The Chalkboard one more shot, because we do realize that not everyone is perfect every time, but my hopes aren’t very high.

   We ate at the Chalkboard on Christmas day at 5 pm. We had made reservations a few weeks prior to the event. From the parking lot, it was a little confusing as to what door to enter, but a nice lady directed us to the front of the restaurant. It turned out that the nice lady was named Brittany, and was the assistant manager. She checked on us a couple of times during the meal, and she was wonderful. Our waitress, Robin, was very good as well. For the price of the meal ($90 each), I think the food was marginal. We had to pay extra ($60) for two glasses of wine. It would have been nice to have the wine included in the price; even a marginal house wine would do. We knew that this was a limited menu for Christmas, and it was easy to place our orders. My smoked ham was excellent, but my partner's prime rib did not have much flavor. Mashed potatoes were not great, and I thought that the green beans needed to be cooked more. My partner liked her beans, however. The best of all were the desserts. My bread pudding was hot and delicious. Her toffee pudding was also excellent. The noise level was fairly high, and not much ambiance. We laughed a little as we heard the song "Cool Kids" by Echosmith on their sound system rather than Christmas music. I guess a little effort to decorate the place would have been appreciated. All in all, it was a good experience, but we will probably choose another Christmas option for next year.

   Christmas Day menu. 2 persons. Three course meal with choices on each course. White bean onion soup with ham was simply excellent. Butternut squash soup was also very good. Salmon with sorghum was a generous serving but was dry (overcooked). Prime Rib had no pink and was fully cooked through, thus not satisfactory. Pineapple upside down cake was extremely dry, but bread pudding was perfectly executed and delicious. We were disappointed largely because we paid $70 a plate and, for that price, we at least expected more even quality of the food.

   The food service and ambiance were very nice. Our server recommended the braised beef short rib and it did not disappoint- delicious. Overall, a very nice evening and a wonderful way to spend Christmas Eve.

   We were there for Christmas Eve dinner, so there was not many people. Justin, our waiter was friendly and did a great job. We all enjoyed our food, but ambience is lacking a bit.

   The wait staff was very attentive. The food was excellent, but they should allow for changing out sides without extra charge. Overall it was a fantastic evening and dining experience. We will be back.

   Lamb Lollis a must. Strawberry rhubarb cocktail perfection. Robin and Rocky are the best bartenders and make everything perfectly. Oysters. Yum. Salmon. 👌🏼

    My wife and I went for our anniversary, and she loved it. Rudy was our server, and he was great. We had the shrimp cocktail, I had the duck breast, and my wife had the filet. The duck and filet were fine but lacked flavor. We were disappointed in the shrimp cocktail, which is why I gave the food a 4. If you want to see what a shrimp cocktail should be, head to Cattleman's. The service, though, was outstanding. Our dinner took two hours, but it flew by. We never felt wanting. As a bonus, our dessert and glasses of champagne were comped. Nice touch on our anniversary. We will most definitely be back. Just won't get the shrimp cocktail. Wink wink!
