   Our server had no idea of the menu, he couldn’t answer simple questions about the menu. Food was over cooked and took over an hour to be served. Waste of time and money.

   We sat at the bar to have a drink since we arrived earlier than our reservation time. The hostess was so nice and had a great table for us even before our scheduled seating time. The meal was delicious and the service was excellent.

   Wonderful restaurant with great food. The pasta in my lasagna was fresh and light. You could tell it was homemade.

   Amplified music overwhelms the sound of the ocean in an otherwise great setting. Service and food were just okay. Reservation time doesn’t matter.

   Great Restaurant with delicious entrees. Had the beet salad and Caesar to start with. The entree of veal Marsala very good and the linguine with fresh catch with a light red sauce and saffron did not disappoint. View is awesome and server was awesome. Will be back

   Nat our server was very professional and very attentive. He was the best server that we have had in a long time. The food was delicious. The dining experience was the best we have had for the time spent on the island. Thank you for an enjoyable experience.

   My wife's dinner was not hot. Sent back to rewarm. 30 minute's later still not back from rewarming. Ruined our dinner since I was only one with food

    If I could give zero stars I would !!!!! I recently visited Café Portofino in Kauai while celebrating my birthday with my niece, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had—especially disappointing for a special occasion in such a beautiful location. Let me start by saying the hostess was lovely and welcoming. She asked what brought us in, and I casually mentioned it was my birthday. We were seated at a gorgeous oceanfront table, and I had high hopes for the evening—those were quickly dashed. Our waiter introduced himself, and immediately launched into a speech about how they don’t do free birthday celebrations. He told me if I wanted a candle or happy birthday song, I’d have to buy a dessert—and even suggested I check out Duke’s instead. Mind you, I hadn’t even mentioned it was my birthday to him, and I wasn’t expecting anything free. It was presumptive and awkward. It didn’t stop there. He didn’t explain the menu to us at all—while we watched another server take time to walk the table next to us through their options. Then, when my niece ordered a cocktail, he turned to me and, in a bizarre stereotype, asked if I wanted a Moscato. I asked why he assumed that, especially since Moscato isn’t even a common drink here. He didn’t have a response. I asked for still water—he brought sparkling. Our food took far too long, and worst of all, it took over 40 minutes just to receive the check. The food itself? Honestly, not worth the wait or the price. Everything was bland and underwhelming. The server seemed either inexperienced or just completely indifferent to providing good service. Either way, it ruined what should have been a celebratory dinner in paradise. He was an overweight Latino man that smelled horrible . I visit Hawaii often, but I will never return to Café Portofino. Save your time and money and dine elsewhere—especially if you’re celebrating something special.
