I have been here a couple of times recently (after a couple times 2 years ago) and I feel like Camden is trending towards getting some Michelin recognition. Its food has moved from reliably good to outstanding! The service is top notch as well. I would say it is among the top 5 restaurants in Sacramento.

We specifically selected the Camden Spit & Larder for our Christmas Eve brunch as we'd heard it was the ONLY place ANYWHERE for MILES where we could sample a Scotch Egg and, even though it wasn't on the 12/24 menu, the chef prepared an AMAZING Scotch Egg with a salmon crusted shell. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your gracious hospitality and GREAT food!!! We plan on coming back VERY SOON!!!! Cheers! Jeff Jones

God was amazing. For NY steak, get only medium done because the well-done was too dry. Otherwise, I’d be amazing. I took my family for my wife’s birthday, and we all loved it!

Always a hitter. Great people, great waitstaff, and hands down one of the best head chefs around. Kudos for pushing the envelope.

We’ve never dined out and told before being sat that we will only have 2 hours to eat. We were a 2 top, how long do you think we'll be? When dining out at a nice (and expensive!) restaurant such as Camden, doesn't get off to a great experience being given an explicit time limit and having to agree to it to sit down. There is always an implicit time limit, but start to notify the guests if they approach that time limit.

We found their menu interesting and were looking forward to our first meal at Camden. We started with the “Chef Inspired Soup”, a sunchoke and truffle soup that was as delicious as it was interesting. That had us looking forward to our entrees. I ordered the vegetarian roasted squash with quinoa, chutney, and fried cauliflower on cilantro pesto. My wife had wanted to try the English Meat Pie, but ordered the Prime Rib special. We both had a glass of Pinot. The good: Service is outstanding. We were celebrating a very special birthday and our server brought us each a small glass of sparkling wine that we enjoyed with the soup. Our courses came on time and we never felt rushed. The food was well prepared and the presentation inviting. The wines were quite good. On the critical side: The vegetarian option presented interesting flavors as I started. Topping of quinoa and chutney worked well together, but were gradually overwhelmed by the pesto. Though I usually like spicy foods, this one gave me indigestion. My wife’s prime rib came appropriately rare to medium rare, the side of broccolini perfectly cooked and creamy mashed potatoes. Her opinion was that the prime rib was simply ordinary, and not worth the price except that it was a generous portion. If you love prime rib you will appreciate that, but she did regret not ordering the dish that first interested her. Will we return to try other options? We’ll see, but I doubt it.

It’s a beautiful room and seriously good cooking is happening here… But I think the most important thing was just how absolutely on point the service was… Everybody was perfect right down to the person refilling our water… I think this is my favorite special occasion restaurant…
