Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

From the OpenTable editors: The music is loud, the jerk chicken is hot, and the cocktails are colorful at Canje, the East Austin hotspot from chef and Guyanese native Tavel Bristol-Joseph. In a lively space decked with palm fronds and tropical wallpaper, dig into Caribbean-inspired dishes like Guyanese-style roti and West Indian curry that earned Bristol-Joseph his first James Beard nod.

    Ring in the New Year at Canje with a six-course menu that celebrates prosperity, unity, and the resilient spirit of Caribbean heritage; a journey through flavors and stories rooted in ancestral wisdom, cultural fusion, and the celebration of a hopeful future. Please note: This menu is $125 per person. Our standard a la carte menu will not be available. All checks will include a gratuity of 20%. If you need to modify or cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. Less than 24 hour notice may result in a $50 cancellation fee per person.     My wife and I had dinner for milestone birthday and it did not disappoint. My only compliant is that they done offer a place to take naps after a delicious meal.

    Thank u for making my little family bday dinner feel so special. Our meal was perfect in every way. Beautifully executed and each dish exceeded expectations. Our server Joon was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We loved his suggestions for cocktails -on and off menu- as well dishes that would complement each other. Everyone that tended to our table was very welcoming. Hope to be back soon!

    Great, fun, cool restaurant with fantastic food and friendly service. Had the ceviche, wild boar, and jerk chicken with sides and all were excellent. Very surprised at how tender and tasty the boar was. A bit loud with music and energy, but not too bad. Will be back next time in ATX!

    This was the best meal I’ve had in months. Thanks to everyone at Canje who made our 2 year anniversary so special and delicious and a major thanks to Bambi, our waitress, who was amazing. I can’t wait to go back.

    The noise level at a 5:15 pm reservation was so loud we could not talk and enjoy the delicious food from a well curated menu. Furthermore I was seated at the front table and all of the staff were behind my back constantly getting items out of drawers. This fur to degraded the dining experience. Beware
